Is it possible to mod what portrait or race comes up when your playing the game? For example, if I am playing as a despotic empire as a black or asian ruler, to have the heirs be the same would help the rp experience. Wondering if anyone could figure that one out, thanks!

It should be relatively straight forward. You'll need \Stellaris\common\species_classes\00_species_classes.txt and \Stellaris\gfx\portraits\portraits\07_portraits_human.txt and then set up the mod with a new portrait group which specifies the specific phenotype in the ruler section.

example

Code:
        ruler = {
            add = {
                trigger = {
                    gender = female
                }
                portraits = {
                    human_female_02
                }
            }
            add = {
                trigger = {
                    gender = male
                }
                portraits = {
                    human_male_02
                }
            }
        }

Would restrict rulers to being from phenotype 2.

Then make your custom empire using the newly created portrait group.
