I may be asking a stupid question but what is the relevance of the "Battles", in the History/Wars/individual war files, in relation to the game mechanics ?

Is it used represent casualties on each side ?
Or so you can enter the game and fight the relevant battle ?
Why are the battles of the civil wars not represented, ie, Munda, Thapsus, etc

Any thoughts/knowledge would be apprciated.

Thanks

Everything in the history folder simply tells the game what happened at certain points of time, so when you start the game from a specific date it knows what has already happened in the game up to that point.

As far as I can tell, they're not all that important; they're more for people to be able to browse through the in-game history lists and see what has happened up to that date.
