I want to mod values, simple things. I used to mod a long time ago and I'm trying to get back now and relearn the ropes buuuuut... DLCs are not added like other games...

Hi.

Please use my Mod Heavy Metal Plus on Nexus as Template. There i have mod many things from this DLC. It is easier than you think.
But, If you want to publish your MOD, please give me credits. :)

I haven't been able to mod anything in DLCs with the built-in loader, only ModTek... and if you look at the release notes for the Heavy Metal Plus mod touted above, you'll see that it tells you to use ModTek as well.

It's fairly straightforward with ModTek, but simply doesn't seem to work at all with the built-in loader.

Oh, and you'll want to grab the DLC JSON files... there is a GitHub link at the end of the Mod Support Readme pinned in this forum.

I did take a look, although I was expecting a more in depth answer. And if I publish I will quote ya o7 I'm thinking about to mod urban warfare and probably heavy metal also.

Yeah, I downloaded those. But I was quite lost what to do with them

I wanted at least to try the built in loader, but sadly doesn't looks reliable... We indeed need more mods on the built in loader in order to push the dev team for updates and improvements or it will stay broken forever. TY anyway o7

The dev team is sitting about drinking rum laced egg nog for the most part right now I suspect. There certainly has been a derth of posting from them since the 1.8.1 patch. :)

Enjoy what you have for now. It's a small team and they're not going to push out update as fast as any of the AAA titles and studio's. They just don't have the warm bodies to pull it off in what is very much a niche market game

(Even if we all happen to think it's the bee's knee's! Battletech fans are loyal to a fault but if there is more then a couple million of us world wide I'll eat my firestarter.. with habenero sauce!)

((And no chaser!))

Ah. For the mechanical details of how to make a change, I've got a few examples available linked below (the entire thread may be of some interest)...

That last example is the simplest. Have the entire JSON file you want to replace in the referenced directory, and just make sure the filename matches the ID that you want to replace. Probably a bit more likely to break if an update adds a new parameter and definitely more likely to cause a conflict with other mods, but sometimes just getting things working is enough.

Basically, the ModTek readme (on the GitHub page) is the best reference, but it's hard to follow without already knowing how it works (I had trouble figuring it out the first time, and I've been programming for roughly 40 years now). Hopefully having an example to refer to will make the whole thing clearer.
