why ? I think that it is good way of differentiating it from Imperial and Nazi era Germany.

The programmers actually planned to make FR of Germany gery as well. But the dude who typed in the "grey" in the word colours file accidently wrote "gray" instead (or maybe vice versa). But thatt colour wasn't defined, so DFR got the colour every country gets when you giev a no-existing colour: Japanese yellow.

So Germany is supposed to be grey. Plus I think that yellow is Japan's colour.
 
Some national ideas could be something like
"World Police" - (Countries like the US) Essentially colonial MP and colonial IC bonuses, maybe with some military bonuses?
"Antagonist Nation" - (Nations that conflict with others, Russia, Venezuela, North Korea, etc.) - More military bonuses, maybe the ability to bully other nations more effectively?
"National Economy" - (North Korea, isolationist economies. ) - Bonuses to own resources somehow?
"International Economy" - Most countries would have this? Trade deals more favorable/TC bonuses?
"Industrial Economy" - (Countries like China/North Korea that devote resources to building industry) IC upgrades, maybe an upgrade to supplies?
"Green Economy" - (Countries that devote resources to helping the environment a bit more?) Resource upgrades/money upgrades/manpower upgrade

Then you could also have something like a follower or a leader idealogy? Like where the leader idealogy would give the bonuses of being able to bring more people into their alliance and being more militarily aggressive. The follower idealogy would be for minors that join the majors (Australia-US, Russia and Central Asia, etc.) and would give them some sort of bonus to help them help their allies moreso?

Just some ideas.

yeah, it will be compatible with AoD only.

Constant members of NATO are USA and UK. European Union and Canada will join NATO if they find the action justified and if they are still democracy.
