I downloaded CORE for Arma but before i run it i would like to know one thing.
Will it override or alter any existing vanilla games or does it just add new campaigns?? How exactly does it affect this?

This question actually also goes for other MODS, i know for example that 1914 needs to be run on a fresh copy of HOI so it would not affect the vanilla, is this correct?
I have a couple of games running and i would hate to lose them.

Oh and another thing, i bought the game on STEAM so this is how it is running now, does this affect the way the mods work or need to be installed??

thanks in advance

CORE runs in mod-dir, so should not affect your vanilla install at all (unlike 1914, say, which requires a separate install). You have to start CORE from its' own desktop shortcut, or you won't actually see the CORE campaign.

Well, 'at all' is a wee bit over the top. We do add dummy graphics in for both the tech teams and techs, otherwise the images won't load. But the installer should do that for you, and should not affect your other game.
As to Steam, as long as you select the correct directory during setup (manually) it should work fine, in theory at least. I heard the one or two who had some problems with it, and ended up using the RAR version instead (which requires some tinkering). But wouldn't know any reason for it not to work. The mod-dir is created automatically, so just point to the main directory should be enough.

Core Installer(or maybe Graphics Pack) 'replaces' several vanilla tech team images to 'Dummy Image'. for example, Admirals like Earl Mountbatten, Shigetaro Shimada's face had been overtakend by dummy images:(

To avoid this, just select "do not replace files" when copying / installing the graphics into the vanilla gfx folder. The only reason we use these "dummy images" is to make sure that there is a vanilla file of the right name for us to be able to then use a shiny new CORE file.

The installer script explicitly states that they should not overwrite any existing stuff. So I'm highly surprised you're having this problem! I'll doublecheck the scripts when I get home, but...

Any backup you can revert to?

Edit: if you used the RAR files, well you have to handle those with care, like Tim states. That's exactly why we advice to use the installer rather dan a 'dumb' RAR file - it will do the job for you.
