Hi, I’ve been playing Stellaris for a while on both pc and console and been stuck to console since my pc broke. I was wondering if we will ever be able to use mods like gigastructure engineering or machine shipset like what’s in steam or even have the ability to use the console commands on Xbox or PlayStation?

I've often been wondering that myself the last three years since Stellaris came to console and I can only hope one day they will implement mod support on xbox and PlayStation.

Also if surviving mars and cities skylines can use mods on console then why not stellaris on console?

Q: Will there be modding support on next-gen consoles?
This is something we’re continuing to investigate. We will be sure to notify folks in advance before any future changes to the game.

Q: Will there be console commands/cheats/cheat menu added to next gen consoles?
No, this introduces too many variables that are difficult to control (and can lead to crashes). It’s just not viable for console and we want to preserve the Stellaris experience consistently for everybody.

TLDR: Mods are a maybe, but not guaranteed [they are looking into it], console commands will never come due to issues they bring in

strange they can't do a restricted command console as there are console games that have used command consoles such as

  • Quake 3 arena (dreamcast)
  • Two Worlds 1 and 2 (Xbox 360)
  • Ark
  • Conan exiles (admin panel)
  • citadel forged with fire

they probably could, but they won't

console commands even on PC cause problems

I imagine it would be worse on the console edition

so, they just opted to not bother putting it in because of said problems

Now that we are right around the corner into 2023 I can't be the only one hoping we will get mod support for stellaris on console?

It'd be so nice to have mod support IMHO.
you aren't but what Paradox said in that post I linked hasn't really changed

mod support on console edition is going to be a challenge

for a several reasons

the main ones being the fact that console is behind pc on updates/dlcs
and that the mod creators would need to remake their mods, if possible, within the restrictions/limitations that the console port of Stellaris has

there are other things that are problematic, like how console tends to skip chunks of patch updates, and that I am uncertain if the modding tool that exists for the other Paradox games on console would work for Stellaris [Cities Skylines, Surviving Mars] (plus mod support would likely be limited)

Considering all this though I am still hopeful they will eventually implement some sort of mod support on consoles despite the challenges involved.
