Mods not being applied

Please forgive me for I am a bit new to Steam, DLC, and mods.

I have a huge list of mods that I have subscribed too and have even removed the ones that are not listed as 1.2 compatible. They show up in the mod list in the launcher. As far as I can tell none of it is being added to the game.

Is there something I have to do in order to get all of it to install or be applied to my game?

You have to enable them. Installed mods aren't enabled by default, you have to chose wich ones you want to use.

I have looked for a way to do that and I do not see any way to do it.
That is one of the first things I looked for.

This is super counter-intuitive.

What color will the outline be if they are enabled?
What color will the outline be if they are disabled?

If they are not enabled how do I enable them?
Right-clicking doesn't seem to do anything.
There does not seem to be any checkboxes

This should be easier. Am I really that stoopid?

All mods are enabled apart from alien suns

Left click on it and its now enabled with the same outline as the rest

I don't know if it is just started working now, or what happened, but while starting a new game it is a whole new game!
