Okay, I've spent the last three hours bashing my skull against this and I'm about to just give up on it. I've been trying to get mods loaded through Paradox Launcher and every single time, I get "The launcher update has failed. The action failed because we could not fetch metadata about this resource." It says that this might be an issue with my internet connection or Paradox's servers (I've checked everything on my end of that, including disabling firewalls and VPNs) and I continually get the same error.

I've unintalled and reinstalled half a dozen times now, multiple reboots and no dice. I'm launching via GOG Galaxy (I tried installing the Paradox Launcher on it's own from a msi file and it just...never opened.)

I've found a couple of folks here who have had the same issue, but not any actual fixes (The fact that I NEED any fix explained step by step, in detail. ) I'm attaching files from the logs folder to this post (I tried to attach the event data log file, but apparently that's empty?)

Any guidance on this would be deeply appreciated.

You mention launcher problems with updates and mods, but have attached game log files instead - are you seeing some game issue as well?

Either way, have you always had this problem? Or it was okay up to some point?

What launcher versions do you see now? Latest is 2024.6

in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Okay, I found those and they're attached to this post.

The game boots fine and seems to run fine, but the modding community's what sold me on the game in the first place. This is how it's been since I bought the game.

No actual errors in those files, unfortunately. But I see your Windows User Documents folder is on OneDrive, ie MS's cloud. That ought to work in general, but it requires OD to be running all the time, to be syncing perfectly, and you to be online all the time.

If you didn't actually want your documents held on the MS cloud, you can change the Windows settings accordingly. Right click on Documents in the left column of File Explorer, just under This PC there. Go to properties, location - that's where you can change it to point to the old default location C:/users/{userName}/Documents

If however you DO want your documents stored up there, let us know and we'll look into this further with you.

All the best!
