I know there are some mods which are known to crash the asset editor. One such mod is Ploppable RICO.
I wanted to go into the editor to make a few interchanges with some modded highways and props. I disable RICO, leaving my other assets and mods, waited over 2 hours, and the game crashed at end of loading.
I tried doing a search for a list of known mods to cause issues with the Editor, but found nothing.
Does anyone know of any specific mods that should be removed/disabled when loading the Asset Editor?

All the mods and assets you don't specifically need. Aside from a few exceptions, most mods are not made from the error.

The crashing is likely because you're running out of RAM from all the content you're trying to load into the editor that you don't need.

If it was a RAM issue, it would crash when loading an actual city with the same mods and assets.
The exact reason I don't want to remove everything I don't specifically need is because I don't know what I need. I have many mods and assets for road building (lines, signs, barriers, road types, anarchy, etc) and I am trying to make "prefab" intersections with these details so that I can just slap them down when building a city and save all that time having to manually place all those details.

This right there is so normal when running out of RAM. The 2 hours is from heavy use of your pagefile and the crash at the end is when the pagefile couldn't get any bigger. If you usually use the Loading Screen Mod, then that doesn't activate when loading into an editor, unless you manually activate it on load by holding ctrl. That would mean increased RAM usage, which would explain the crash you don't usually get with the same assets. But it might also be the fact that the editors work slightly different than the game. I have never looked at RAM usage to see if they use a bit more, but that might be or some mods might increase RAM usage.

I have two solutions I have used over the years when creating assets. First is disable a bunch of stuff I don't need, the second is another account with a different set of subscriptions. I much prefer the 2nd account, but if you don't want to make one for this, disable stuff. The Improved Content Manager sorts your assets in categories, which makes it easier to disable batches (without the game freezing). I used to do a bunch of categories with many assets (like low/high density residential) one at a time using the "Disable All" button. For my setup it wouldn't freeze or crash, but it depends on your amount of assets in a category and your system. As for mods disabling all and then enabling the ones you need is probably the best way to go. But you could also use the list of mods known to misbehave in the editor - it's found in the Incompatible mods tab of this document at the very bottom.

Like mentioned I find it easier to just have a 2nd Steam account. It's free to make one, you just need an email to use, and then you can use Family Share to share the game with the other account. It lets you have a 2nd set of subscriptions tailored to what you're making without affecting your setup for your city. No need to disable assets or mods, just switch accounts.

Thank you for pointing out the Improved Content Manager. I'll have to check that out!
I thought a second account would need to buy the game again. I've never heard of this Family Share thing. I'll have to do some research on that and see how it works. Wouldn't the second account be a violation of Valve's Terms of Service, though (most services only allow one account).
Thank you for the link to the list of known problem mods! This is what I was looking for in the beginning.

Nope, Valve are happy for us to have multiple accounts. Accounts that haven't bought anything are limited (to avoid spamming I imagine). I don't think you can upload to the workshop from it, but the files are stored locally, so I just switch back to my main account to upload.

Family sharing is pretty easy actually. Just log in with the new account, switch back to the main one, go into Settings - Family, check the box for sharing the library and make sure the new account is enabled to share, then back to the new account and you're ready to go. :)

Nice!
Thank you.
Now I wonder if it'd be possible to open multiple Steam clients so that I can be logged in to both accounts? Knowing Steam, it'll want to restart when I switch, then it'll want to sit for the next 5 or 10 minutes trying to "check for updates".
Honestly, I might even put Steam on my old craptop and use it strictly for Asset Editor (I already have to use it for texturing in Paint.Net)
Anyway, this sounds handy. I'll definitely check into it! I decided I ain't using Asset Editor as it is now, as my current setup seems to have all kinds of issues with it. I even disabled all my content and spent a few hours sifting through all of it to find the few things I knew I needed only for it to crash!
I think trying it on a new install on a different system in a different account might help.
