Mods Will Not Load

I downloaded mods from the forums, unzipped the .zip file in the /mods directory of Rome, so that:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome

is the main directory.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome\mod

is the mod

and C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome\mod\Rome_TheLand

is the mod folder itself.

However, when I go to load up the game, all it gives me is 'Default'.

Is something wrong? How do I load the mods?
