In a previous version of AGCEEP (dunno if its still like that nowadays), i lost more then half of my empire forcefully via events, and had someone else turn into the Mughals, forever sealing my not so fortunate fate. Ended up with only 3 provinces, and with about 30 BB points.

I recall a fun game as the Timurids in an older version. I did get cut down to four provinces by events, but I managed to inherit Fars and Khorasan by event, so it wasn't all bad.

Timurids are indeed not for absolute beginners. But if you want action...
