Yes, a session of a certain magnitude as Germany finally succumbed and allies are now facing the SU directly in central Europe.
I couldn't do more than just hold back the US in Finland and didn't even dare try the kind of counterattacks that failed so miserably last session.
I was trying to rebuild a small airfleet, but feel that I was unlucky with their crappy retreat patterns. Twice did they repeatedly retreat exactly into the returnpath of the enemy planes (at one occasion 4 times) resulting in quite a few killed squadrons. Why my planes retreat to the west when they arrived from the east, I don't understand. And why they keep going west is a small mystery. But that's one of the limitations of HOI1 I suppose?
How much gametime there's left is an open question. As far as I can see, the final outcome is inevitable so it's just a question about time. If the dreaded nukes come into play it make result in some breakthroughs that speed things up. OTOH the SU has a quite large unitcount so any strike is unlikely to decide the entire war.
It's an open offer on my part to play on, but as soon as Vissarion and Ederon might decide they find it too little of a challenge, I will agree to end. We haven't really tested eachothers strength in any part of the game yet, though.
As we talked about after last night session, it might be an option to have a secondary cominternplayer (Wishing Well?) take control of some more SU units to allow for a more balanced 2 vs 2 player situation.
Finally a thanks to Andrew for his part of the game. One wonders if his Germany would not have faired much better had it not had bleak allies and had it attacked the Soviet Union early on.
BTW.: I'd really like to hear some details of what happened in Germany!!
