SOrry about that guys. I was trying to order 6 units and changed my mind form 2 runs of 3 to 3 runs of 2. And then i couldnt get them to cancell over a few days, and then next time I look to go try and cancael again I lost a 90% done CA and Air Transport from my queue, and maybe I few ships Im not sure. I think this happened about April 3 or 4 but I could be wrong.

Perhaps as andrew suggested the easiet thing to do would be to give me those units and I could idle my industry or something. I am not sure how editing build queue works but that would be cool two. It would just be whatever was underneath the Graf Zepplin and its CAG Cyril. I think its a CAS and an Air Transport. Anyway had a greta time and look forwad to next session. Big things should occur :)

Yesterday the main players were:

Kyril - SU
Fabius - USA
Herodotus - Japan
Becephalus - Germany
Wishing Well - France
Konrad - Italy
Warden - UK

Foxhound was Canada initially but kept losing his connection so was asked to retire, alas.

The Axis continued to perform well:

* France was pushed back and when Paris fell, Vichy was declared quickly. This left the BEF unexpectedly stranded and, while they almost got away, they were almost all taken prisoner.

* Belgium and Netherlands were overrun swiftly and effectively

* Greece and Norway were likewise taken in well-organised, combined arms operations.

* Italy re-invaded Libya at Tobruk and drove hard for Tripoli which the UK evacuated with thrilling naval operations in the Central Med.

* Fascist Ethiopia fought a stalwart defense with Italian assistance.

As for the German glitch, I am generally opposed to rolling back time for all but the most severe cases because, apart from being a waste of time, it spoils the feel of the fighting if you have to repeat it - each side knows what to expect.

Note that the Allies have had their glitches too but we have borne them in silence. I had a division disappear for no clear reason when it was retreating from the Italians. And France lost about 30 divisions when we rehosted. This was a major strategic reverse but we didn't complain because the Vichy event shouldn't really leave the Free French with so many troops. But I've never seen this happen before and would like to know more. Did Cyril edit the save? Or was it a bug/feature?

Andrew

Despite several glitches and hiccups the game is developing nicely I think and I'm enjoying it a lot. Assuming Becephalus' production problems have a technical background, Andrew's initial suggestion of editing the save would be the best solution IMO.

Just to get clarity I would like to hear people's opinion on the China issue. I took a gamble yesterday and I lost, so I don't want to change China's status. But can a (new) human play Nat. China and go after Japan again? I'm happy enough with the current situation, but that would be a little harsh IMO. Or is such a player forced to join the Axis? It's very well possible that nobody would like to play them, but just in case. It's better to discuss it now than next Monday night.

It's good that you took this reverse in your stride. I don't think we have any immediate plans to have another human player as China so this may do as a short-term solution. It's seems right that China should be played in a rather chaotic, incompetent fashion and I suppose that the AI will do that now.

The problem is likely to be that one of the alliances might recruit China and then military control the country. The mighty dollar of the USA might be expected to win the influence battle and that would be historical. But you'll have some time in which to plan for this, I think.

Andrew

Hi Guys,

@ Andrew: I havent edited the save, so the case of the missing Frenchman is still unsolved. Could it be that they get disbanded due to a high strain on TC? I saw large numbers of Free French dissappear before when I was controlling them as the UK (I send 24 TP's to pick up a large French Army in Guyana, and when they arrived, they all seemed to have dissappeared), so it seems a regular feature/bug.

As for China: accepting a Vnet Troll really screwed things up. As far as I remember, China was nearly done for, when the whole 'puppet -> release puppet' happened. I think the best solution is for Japan to Ally them, and use the troops the AI will produce to good effect. A re-invasion of China will probably send Japanese beligerence sky-high.

That something like this is possible is fine with me. If China is played by the AI, it should be treated as a normal part of the game and as Cyril pointed out Japan could play a role as well. Besides for now they are in an alliance with their friends the warlords IIRC. I don't know if they will stay in that for the rest of the game, but I suppose it's not inevitable that they will be recruited by an alliance.

I havent got a clue how to edit units in game, so someone else will have to do. I'll be online earlier, so if someone wants the save or other things need to be settled, let me know.

As for China, should herodotus decide to re-invade, perhaps we can edit the save after the DOW to reduce their belligerence somewhat.

Editing the belligerence is a possibility I might be interested in (if everyone agrees that is). I don't want to give away my strategy of course, but I don't think I'll do any unrepairable damage to it if I say that I've decided not to ally Nat. China. So re-invading them remains a possiblity, but I'm not sure if that will happen tonight and if it will happen before the peace treaty expires (May '41 IIRC) anyway. I don't know if belligerence will still be an issue if I do it after the treaty expires. I can't help you with the save BTW.

SOrry my Ineternet connection was down :(

As we all know Cyril didn't show up last week. He also didn't show up in scheduled games on Thursday and Saturday, as Andrew wrote in the thread about his Saturday game. I'm sure Cyril has a good reason for this, but I suppose there is a good chance he won't be there tonight either. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions what to do if that will be the case? Does anybody have a save for example? Of course there's always a chance he will appear tonight and then this post can be forgotten, but what if he won't be there?

Since he lives in the same country as you, you could seek him out.
Would sure be nice to know for sure how he is doing, and you are our best chance to find out.
It is very likely that Andrew has a save, cautious as he is. But finding another decent player to man SU during Barbarossa might prove much harder.

Uhm, I'm not a private eye or something. I understand the potential problem is bigger than just him being the host. It won't be easy to solve that adequately and I do have a strong preference to play with him anyway, but maybe somebody has a proper solution or a good idea.

Who's asking for a P I , just find his abode, knock the door or ring the bell and ask why he is not playing HoI2 when he's supposed to.

I have a save (7 April 1940) and could try hosting. If we need a sub for Cyril then let's see who's around at that time - 18:00 GMT / 19:00 CET. It's best that we continue the game if we can as otherwise we're likely to lose more players to natural attrition.

Andrew

We continued yesterday making up the numbers as follows:

Max Power - SU
Fabius - USA / Nat.Spain
Herodotus - Japan
Mr Alikos - Germany
Wishing Well - France
Konrad - Italy
Andrew - UK

Mr Alikos seemed to do fine as Germany. Max was not put to the test as SU but seemed ok. I was the host and, by sticking at slow speed throughout, seemed to manage without significant lag or instability.

The Axis put pressure on the UK from every direction. Germany bombed its convoys and assisted Italy in taking Tobruk, invading Palestine and advancing upon Suez from east and west. Japan joined the war against the Allies, took Malaya and Borneo and advanced into Burma. The UK's only success was to overrun Ethiopia but the intense air battles with the Axis have have been bleeding them economically.

We expect to continue next Monday at 18:00 GMT. I have edited the save so that Japan and its puppets are now fully part of the Axis.
