We were quite numerous tonight, so I may remember wrong which I'm sorry about in advance. Here comes the roster:

Wishing Well - USA
Andrew - UK
Herodotos - Germany
Ederon - Italy
Mr.G - Brazil
Dan - Nat. China
Red - Canada
Galleon - Australia

We are in June or July '43.

It was quite hectic session. We could see many battles but in general positions were more or less static. Only "permanent" change of owner happened in Eastern Africa, where Axis concluded their offensive started at the end of last session. Chinese had no luck there. On the other hand, they've been sent to Arabia, where the situation seems to be most tense.

Battles for superiority over Central and South Africa continues. Both sides are sending in more and more troops, but fighting in such hard terrain is difficult as both opponents already experienced. There were lot of battles when overnumbered defenders held their positions while causing serious damage to the attackers. It'll be yet interesting and painful fight.

One thing is certain though. Allies have air superiority on distant battlefields, which is very disturbing for Axis forces. Lack of airbases is causing problems to Axis airforces.

While Axis and Allies fight hard against each other, Brazil, leading Comintern power, is conquering all South American countries. Their aggresiveness is yet unspotted by Allies, who still see main threat in Axis, not communism rising right in their neighbourhood.

To defend my actions in South America, I was merely giving me something to do. My comintern brother has long since surrendered and frankly at this game speed I need to do something. The infuriating part is that I can't join the allies because I'm at war, I'm not at war with the Axis but Axis Norway because some quarrel that Finland got in a while back. So I sit and watch the fog of war grow denser. But its fun none the less.

It was good session, with only active theater in the Middle East. Combined US-Asian troops counting hundreds of divisions finally decided to overrun defending Axis. It started with the western deserts, continued in Iraq.

We had minor problem with uncontent sub, who played Nat. Spain. After his plans to conquer everybody in range (Vichy France, Baltic states...) were denied by both Germany and Italy, he decided to sabotage our game. Without any warning, he DoWed Vichy and Soviet Union, which was clearly aimed to hurt "hated" Axis. Right after he left and player called Calogero was no longer present on VNet.

So one outcome of this: i'm going to introduce blacklist with Calogero (or whatever his real name is) to be first on it. Congrats man, you are first who I ever put on such list. Never needed to do so before. You should think about yourself!

He also claimed that he played with us one week ago, as Spain. He prolly uses another nicknames. I don't want to accuse anybody, but I think player who played Spain that time used nickname Ericsoft(?).

We'll continue this Monday. Just to remind you the game starts at 17:00 GMT. If you're in VNet just before that, we'll most probably have a spot for you.

Is it an open house? I've been looking to play HoI2 MP ever since I reinstalled, and my brother never quite got into the game enough to stop playing CS instead (damn you CS and your addictive grasp!) I'm available every (my g/f is occupited on Monday evenings too..) monday evening until I ship out to Uni in late September, so if you need a regular player (or a regular sub ;)) I'd be very much interested if you have any spaces free :)

We don't have any "official" guidelines on inviting people, I think. We're not literally an open house, but we rarely refuse people if we have room, especially if they apply through the forum. So you're welcome to join us. I keep on repeating it, because it's often confusing for new players: we start at 17:00 GMT (19:00 CEST). I don't know the pass the save project well, nor do I know how many people are involved, but we seem to attract a lot of people from there. Wasn't Lord Ederon involved in that as well? In that case you would be the third pass the save player.

Yes, I was. The time and involved players were the things that attracted me to this game. I value Andrew as a good fellow player since I've played one Monday-series game with him in the past. And I knew his companions won't be worse. I was right :)

Hoping to get in on the next monday game, but i have a question: what's the minimum time for a session, i mean cause i usually have 6 hours worth of free time and some guys play 10 or 12 hour sessions.

Yeah I was a pass the saver (as my sig might say) and helped kick off the second. Sadly I kept suffering problems connecting to the game which drove me insane, and then I sucumbed to the lure of HSR (and trying to make a separate instal didn't seem to work) However now I'm ready to give it a whirl again with all pressures upon me releived :)

Wow, what an avalanche of potential new players. Why is that, the summer holidays?

The same applies to you as I've said to the other new players. With the risk of making the game 5 or 6 against 2, we'll most probably have a spot for you. I assume you're in the CET timezone. We start at 19:00 CEST (17:00 GMT).

With so many new people it's probably worth the effort of giving a small overview of the current situation. The game is in November '43. In the past the Axis have conquered or allied most of continental Europe, but not Gibraltar, and the SU was forced to accept Bitter Peace. Afterwards Axis forces advanced deep into Africa and the Middle East and made an invasion in Scotland, but those forces are stuck in Northern England. In the meantime Japan, not helped by as many commanders as we had sessions, was annexed by China, which is now one of the 5 remaining real powers in the world. The Axis have been pushed back by the US and China in the Middle East and this is where we are now.

UK (Andrew), US (Wishing Well), Italy (Lord Ederon) and Germany (me) have permanent players. We'll definately need a player for China. Another country wich might be fun playing is Brazil (I'm not sure if Mr. G will be there tomorrow), which is in Comintern and went on a conquest spree in South-America). For the rest the most interesting countries to play are Allied minors. I spoke earlier about 5 or 6 against 2, because it's probably not interesting to play an Axis minor. All Axis minors are used for defensive purposes only and as we experienced in the past, players get bored easily there. So unless one of you has no problem at all playing a country which has a decent chance of seeing no military action at all in tomorrows session, you'll probably prefer an Allied nation.

No possibility of sharin countries then? I'd be open for anyone... I'd be a bit reluctant about taking on China due to the huge scale of the task and organising my forces etc (I'm a perfectionist for my Corps...) But if noone else steps up for the challenge I'll take it :)

PS. Yeah summer holidays :)

It would only be preferred you take China, if noone else wants it. We have not had any shared countries yet in this game, but I suppose it isn't totally out of the question. The thing is though that for Germany it is not necessary. I can't speak for the US, UK or Italy, so one of them might want to coop, but I wouldn't count on it. One country still open that I forgot to mention earlier is SU, though personally I prefer to leave it AI (but I'm not at all in charge of this game). After Bitter Peace fired I asked what the unwritten law in the MP community was, once SU accepts Bitter Peace and the answer was that the SU could dow the Axis once the peace treaty expired. Our SU player of the time had already quit by then and we have left it AI since. It now has something like 50 divisions, so it might not be ready for war soon. The status of its availability is a bit unclear and maybe some of the others can give their opinion on this. Of course if it is decided that the SU can be human again and that they can go to war again I would accept that without problems.

I don't feel the need for sharing Italy. On our speeds, it is not a problem for one person to handle it all. Having only one "real" front it is nothing exceptional. It is something similar with Axis minors. Their role is mainly (if not solely) defensive and can be handled by me or Heros w/o problem. But as Herodotos said, if you have enough patience and you don't need to conquer the World in one (first) session, it might not be problem for you to play Axis minor. Add "I'll obey my alliance overlords" and you can take over Spain, Romania or Flanders. :p
