And that's all for past session. I believe my report will be much more about Allied victories next time :p Whenever next session will be, I'm looking forward to it :)

As I feared and already sort of announced in-game, I will not be able to play next Monday :( . Sorry about that.

Ever since war started I don't look much more forward than the next 3 months, given the precarious context of the Axis, but it's going to be even tougher. With winter disappearing on both fronts and the Allies awakening from hibernation I'm already looking forward to the next winter

I have no problem with that. I'm sure most of us would welcome Christmas break either. So to speak, I suggest postponement till 2nd day of New Year or the week after.

Then week after is much better.
I am moving to other place with my SO so possible I will not have Inet yet.

As I said on Monday it's most appropriate to leave the decision of what to do to those that can play, though it looks very much like you will decide to postpone. In any case I'll be available again on Monday January 2.

Ready to rumble on.
After all we have some German butt-kicking in order of day.

Unfortunately we didn't get a report of the last session from Ederon. Now the problems of Germany will remain unknown to the masses ;)

We'll continue tonight. A new "patch" has been released in the meantime, but Andrew has stated in various places that it has serious shortcomings and recommends not to use it in multiplayer. That makes things pretty clear, so I'm sure there are no objections to continue this game with 1.3a, checksum JLQC.

7th Session - January 2nd, 2006

We played on second day of year 2006 with Zajac missing the session as he decided to hand over US to WW rather than playing only half of session. After a while Mr. Sljivovic took control over Italy so Heros had finally less, but sill enough, work to do.

We were:

Herodotos - Germany
Mr. Sljivovic - Italy (host)

Traks - Soviet Union
Andrew - Japan

Wishing Well - USA
Mr.G - Canada
Lord Ederon - UK

I rally don't know how long we played in game terms. But I think we made at least three months, or something like that. So it should be July/August 1941.

Shortage of men

War in Europe continued. Western front remained yet silent, but fights were going on the Eastern one. From the beginning of spring 1941, Germany launched offensive against Soviets and fought them back to the Ukraine. Asia Minor was under control of Commies and nothing significant happened there. However, in late June Germany started to fade out and Soviets re-gained initiative. Informations from Eastern Front say that the numbers are utterly uneven and even technological superiority of Germans couldn't stop the Red Storm.

With start of the summer, Allies finally felt prepared for Western offensive as well. Besieged Swiss managed to suprise Italians and captured Turin. Bleeding Germans were unwilling to lose men in battle for insignificant piece of land and let the Swiss alone for the moment. Italian subamrines tried to ambush Carrier Group of Royal Navy, but instead of inflicting damage, they lost half of their numbers while RN lost no ship.

Allied command watched situation on Eastern Front with great interest. Their reaction was not as prompt as it was required to be. UK command was the main bottleneck here, still stunned by loss of four fighter squadrons in Spain (under misterious circumstances). When the decision was made, Soviets were almost in Berlin.

First, Denmark was taken by surprise. When passage to the Baltic was open, combined Anglo-American forces landed in Rostock, capturing German air and naval bases. German resistance was minimal due to Soviet pressure from the east. American forces continued in their way to the south while British troops kept defensive positions.

It is alomst week after the session, so my memories may be not absolutely clear. But I think it happend similar to this. Today's session should be quite interesting, certainly Herodotos will have lot of fun. Hope to see you soon (within 2 and a half hour, actually :)).

Not anymore :)

I thought about this game, questioned my actions and lamented for lost fighters. That's why it took so much time. :D

Yes we are still in the same crazy game, and it has gone even more crazy where Germany accepted to be puppets of the allies. Me as Italy are leader of axis allied to Vichy(who is almost whiped out) Allies at the forts west of Genoa. Japanease and Soviet troops bogged in Greece from strong forces fortified in Ionnia(spelling). Altho germans to the north, they are still on good terms with the italians and no fighting exists between them for now. Yugo exists as a puppet to Italy but are neutral and acts as a buffert zone between the three blocks cause of existing peace agreements. Allies and comintern are rushing for VP's in Vichy and Lybia while Italy is in a pure defence state, except for some resistance made in middle east by annexing Lebanon and going for Syria.

The cold war is already beeing felt between Allies and Comintern and nobody knows for sure how long peace will exist between them. We are in late Dec 41 i believe.

We play at slow speed, use the ingame chat and im usually the one that is hosting.

20:00 CET is 20:00 in Berlin etc. We usually find room for minors willing to join so show up next session and we will see what we can make of you. ;)

brazil still in the game?

and yet another thing... what checksum do you have? i hope i have no mods on my normal install...

OH, and are you using 1.3b?

Brazil is gone, annexed by UK/South Africa/Canada.

Depends on situation and feelings of that player and rest of our crew.

We play 1.3a no mods, but checksum is different from yours I think.

8th Session - January 9nd, 2006

Tyrant took control of SU as Traks suddenly decided to give up after initial problems with startup. I still don't understand what was it about. We spend almost haft the time to rehosting and problems with it. Very bad session in this manner. WW had problems with his Internet connection and occasional CTD happend to others too.

We were:

Herodotos - Germany
Mr. Sljivovic - Italy (host)
Tyrant - Soviet Union
Andrew - Japan
Wishing Well - USA (in the end Mr.G moved to US as WW had ISP problems)
Mr.G - Canada
Lord Ederon - UK
Commander - Yugoslavia, then Australia (hasn't played to the end of session, had to go to work)

We ended on November 15th, 1941. Despite mentioned problems we played just three months (exactly, without one day).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cold War begins

Germany understood it has no other chance than to nogotiate. Hitler was removed and new German leadership opened negotiations with Allies. London and Washington insisted on immediate democratization of Germany, punishment of war criminals and complete subordination of Germany to the UK and the USA. Terms were accepted by Germany and treaty was signed on August 17th, 1941 in Copenhagen. Germany became member of Allies and new border with SU was established.

Italy became leader of Axis and remained fighting alone against Comintern monter.

New Order and outbreak of Cold War

Changes to Allied strategy were immediately adopted and big reorganization of troops began. With only real opposition, powerhunger Comintern led by Soviet Union, priorities had to be reconsidered. Persuasion of American countries continued. Guatemala joined Allies on 25th, El Salvador on 26th of August 1941.

Italy persuaded Vichy France to join them in their uneven struggle. Communist progress was stopped in Greece. However Japanes landed in North Africa and captured some important naval bases there, including Tobruk and Tripoli. Allies were too busy hunting for Vichy so they missed this.

Current composition of major alliances is following:

Allies - United Kingdom, Australia, Bhutan, Canada, France, New Zealand, Nepal, Oman, South Africa, Venezuela, Belgium, Switzerland, Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, Netherlands, USA, Philippines, Liberia, Germany, Guatemala and El Salvador

Comintern - Soviet Union, Mongolia, Japan, Nationalist China, Manchukuo, Siam, Mengkukuo, Persia, Guangxi Clique, Yemen, Indochina, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary

Axis - Italy and Vichy France

Comparisons

Comparing current alliance, we can tell the following: Comintern posses most potential on land with Japan being one of major naval powers too. Allies have undoubtful air superiority and is yet biggest naval power (combined). Comintern is mostly compact land mass, while Allies have their possesions scattered all over the world. These are major factors, which will play role in any further interactions between these alliances.

Axis is now marginal power in defensive position and will most likely be consumed by one of two uber-alliances.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think we might need another Comintern player for further play, as we are already four in Allies now compared to just two Comintern players. With Italy possibly becoming member of Allies, these odds could be even worse. With Commie Italy, it'd be so-so.
