Please guys, we really need some monetary cost for assassination and shrine desecration missions. Now it's ridiculous when you get your BB over 30% and 15 Gallic tribes you are bordering with are slaughtering everybody you have in your court and destroying your shrines at insane pace. Or when AI wants to jump at you but needs a CB for that so they keep sending their agents. Or when a human player sends tens of assassin's to produce a CB. I consider this a bug.

Agreed.

I am not quite convinced here. From your description you were a bad boy and became a threat to the AI. So the AI used intrigue to try and cut you down a bit. This was certainly how we wanted it to be.

Disclaimer: this is based on one first "let's try everything and see what happens" game as Rome.

As I said, I tried a bit of everything and quickly ruined my reputation. Then, the onslaught of the ninja horde (of presumable Greek origin) began, quickly killing researchers and governors left and right. Given that almost all assassination attempts seem to succeed, this quickly turns into a very annoying Nightmare on Elmstreet kind of scenario. I don't mind getting key people killed off when I am a bad boy, but given the huge number of attempts you face, maybe the success chance (at least for people holding office) could be tweaked down.
(Also, the other way round of course. At the moment, when I want to assassinate someone, it seems less to be a question of whether I succeed but only of whether I will be discovered.)

Also assasin missions seems to succeed way too often. Some unknown distant empire court member sure shouldn't be able to kill whoever he likes governor or general so often that now they do. They even kill admirals while fleet is sailing middle of mediterrain

I agree with the OP. There has to be a cost. I have taken 6 provinces from Carthage in the game so far, over the course of two wars, and both Carthage and Numidia are sending at least a couple of assassins/desecrators/rebels each month. My bb rating is 0.

King: Yes, I was a threat. So was Rome when Caesar started conquering Gaul. But did they go and assassinate every single Roman governor and general Rome had back then?

Vercingetorix didn't even manage to kill those leading armies (Caesar, Mark Anthony...). Here they just decimated my characters at insane rate.

That cost doesn't have to be high (like 250 for bribing a governor). But there should be some cost because the level of spam is just way too big now. Please try it for yourself or at least tell betatesters to try it (border like 15 factions, go over BB limit), you will see how annoying this mass murder is when you get 10 popups each month about caught enemy spies. I'm sure it will convince you.

I did test it before release.
