Monitor issue

Hi all. I got a little lost in the big forums so please point me in the right direction if I should post in another place or contact somewhere else. I have an issue with Crusader Kings II.

Every time I play, my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster T220) wants to switch to an analog stance, while settings + cables are in digital mode. The results is a blackout, followed by my monitor resetting to digital mode. It keeps repeating, even after I close the game and restart my computer.

I am not 100% sure yet, but I suspect it is the game forcing the monitor to switch its settings. First time it happened, I checked cables, drivers and all the hardware stuff. Couldn't find a thing so I gave up. I haven't played for 2 weeks and I had no problems with my desktop while working, now I start playing CKII again and the issue happens again.

Could you help me? I'd be happy to provide further information if required.

There is a known bug where HDMI cables stop the game from running, but with symptoms not quite like you describe. If you have such a cable, any chance you can try a VGA cable?

I do have a HDMI cable. Earlier attempts when replacing with a VGA cable did not solve it, but I'll check again to be 100% sure.
