I agree. One thing I would like to see also for a monorail is support for bridges when it is above a road. More detailed stations with stairs and stuff would look nice also.

You can already do this in Cim2. All you would need to do is build a road structure that includes all types such as avenue, street, expressway or a track at +ve elevation and you will have a monorail. The road structure can accommodate bus, trolleys, and trams and tracks will support metros. And you will see your monorail lines travelling across the city. Metro passengers will teleport in between the stops on the road below and the stops on the monorail just like in subways. For all the other surface structure, you will have to connect them onto the roads below otherwise you will get limited ridership.

No its a completely different type of transportation, the same way Suspension Railway is also different from monorail. They have different capabilities and possibilities.

I see what you mean but given that the variety of elevated transit system that you can build in CIM2 pretty much serve the same functions as monorails, I am not sure if CO would be inclined that much to add monorails in there.

If you want monorails, I would rather want...(See my new post in the Suggestion Box forum) :)

+1 on monorail. They still serve a different enough purpose to say, using an elevated metro system. Metro is designed for longer distances, Monorails can more cheaply and easily weave their way through city streets tackling the tight 90 degree turns with ease and you can even integrate a station into a building... (be interesting to see if the devs could implement that in the game ;) ...

and not to mention it would have higher appeal for tourists and white collar workers. Plus it would simply be cool to add in.

Also, I liked the monorail from CiM1 but it would be cool to see some of the other styles of monorail vehicles like the Von Roller, which was a very common design.

Also, I like the lighter blue hue of the monorail track that is used as it looks less drab than the grey of the CiM monorail.
Also, there are some interesting station designs to be found.

Monorails would be nice for CIM2, but I would rather have a tram station with teleporters because they seems much easier to implement for CO, and have similar functions that you have mentioned. They do look uglier though... but still.

Yeah, it's probably going to be the likely outcome if we do get monorail; basically metro station for monorail track. Which in itself isn't the worst looking thing.

Yes, it looks really nice. I like the way the monorail going through the landscape in Chongqing. Almost like a roller coaster. It's a pretty interesting system they have there.

I would really like to see Monorail in CiM someday.:)

What would be the difference between monorail and metros in game, for you? I mean, a transportation type should have in my opinion something that makes it better than the others in certain situation, and something that makes it worse to keep balance in the game.

I would suggest:
+ Cheaper cost to build and buy vehicles than metro
+ Not affected by traffic like bus, trolley or tram
+ Looks really cool ;)

- Overall less capacity than metro
- Slower acceleration

Whereas the metro serves the longer distances and connects the main suburbs and cities, the monorail is more for the inner city

Since the metro isn't perfectly simulated, there are really no realistic upsides to use a monorail besides the price, given that it will be cheaper. But it's the diversity, and it looks sleek.

If the monorail were added, perhaps it could have a smaller turning circle/able to go around tighter corners than other vehicle types?

Wouldn't a monorail have faster acceleration but slower top speed than metro?

Yes, sorry, that it was i was supposed to say. Slower max speed, which is why it is better suited to the shorter distances within the city.... whereas the metro (At least in the way it is used in the game) gets the speed up to cover those longer runs out of the city.

Yes exactly. The monorail will be a cheaper way to cover medium areas without the need to care about traffic. While the metro is expensive way to cover big areas also avoiding traffic. Trams also serve as monorail but with the possibility to go on roads and metro tracks, while monorail can't.

Anyway, too bad there is no word of the devs on it.
