Is it possible to replace the vanilla trading system for energy and minerals with a more realistic (aka MoO1 style) system with a mod? (Or possibly add MoO1 style trade agreements as a third option for energy and minerals, as you might want to use the current options to pay for something other than minerals you want to trade for)

Specifically, MoO1 allowed you to make a trade agreement for up to 25% of the smaller economy's GDP; initially, what you got was a _penalty_ to production of 30% of the nominal value of the agreement, and each turn it increased by 0-5% until it reached 100% of the nominal value.

This made trade a _long-term_ strategy, _and_ meant that both sides profited from the trade agreement, just like the real world. It's bugged me that I haven't seen such a system since MoO1.

That would be sensible, and I still remember that one too. I can't say I see something possible like it rigth now, but I haven't looked into that part of the code yet, so perhaps someone who has better knowledge about it could come up with something....
