When trying to play the game in multiplayer mode with a friend from another continent (EU & OCEANIA),
we have extremely long save game transfer times that makes the game hardly playable - especially with the crashes that we experience and having to reload/rehost a lot.
things we have noticed:
- the bigger your save game, the longer the transfer takes.
Which leads me to believe it really is a networking issue.
We have all have a decent upload (5 to 20 Mbps) and download (50 to 100Mbps)
note: sending the save game via skype takes a minute while via the game client it would take 15min or even longer
- our latest game takes us +- 15 minutes to transfer a 180MB save file,
our latest attempt just had the transfer hover at 20% and then give up?
Things we tried:
- having different players host.
Depending on who hosts, save game transfer is somewhat faster but not how it should be
- sending the save game via skype/wetransfer and then put it in the save game folder
unfortunately this does not help, the game will just try to distribute the save game again via the loading screen and not look for the matching save game in my hard drive.
- check if the game had access through windows firewall, which is the case
Questions:
are there perhaps any ports/exceptions we could open in our router/modem to speed up the transfer
is anyone experiencing the same issue and have they found a fix?
thank you for your feedback
