I'm trying to get a friend of mine to play HOI2 MP, but I can't find a way to make his computer connect to a HOI server.

The problem is that he is connected to I-net through a student network, which in a sense works like a router. All students have their I-net communication sent through the router, giving everyone the same IP.

Unlike a regular home-router, there is no way to control the router. In other words, the Step By Step Router Setup is not helping. :(

My guess is that there is no way for him to get HOI MP to work, but I would like to ask here, in case a firewall-router-proxy-HOI MP player-GURU are reading this and have some tips? :D

Anyone enlightened?

your prob screwed but if the school has all ports forwarded then it might be a local firewall issue..

Is he running xp firewall or other firewall software on his computer??
if so just open up the ports that are needed or disable the local firewall...

He is running xp firewall. I've turned it off and HOI still doesn't find any games at IP xxx.xx.xxx.xx.

Whats a bit strange is that he can play some other MP games like ww2online. I guess the university have forwarded those ports but not the ones needed for HOI :(

Anyway thx for trying to help :)

Has he tried to connect to you by the direct ip option and not through Paradox VNet server also?
