I'm quite experienced player in SP but a total n00b in MP, so I want to check my abilities, but I have technical problems.

My problem is that I'm behind a router with NAT, and it complicates this cause a little bit - my admin unlocked ports required to play in MP game ( ports 2300-2400, 47624, 33943-33950 ), but when I enter the Valkyria - net, I don't see anybody, and the channels colour is black/grey. When I try to roll the menu with channels, game crashes to desktop. I really want to play in mp but I don't know how to reslove this problem. I've 1.08 PL patch version of the game.

Dear moderators, please don't close this topic :)

All of this is normal I think. I've never myself found any logic behind the grey channels, but there are very few people in vnet (most people decide times here or on ICQ when to play and just host quick in vnet). The scrolling is also bugged, it crashes for me too. Just don't scroll. If you want, you could contact me and we could do a test game (check my sig for ICQ etc. :))

NAT is your enemy here. It masks your IP, and makes it impossible to send packets to your machine, which the EU2 MP code needs to do.

It is almost impossible to give you exact information on how to work this out, but you and your admin should read on port forwarding. You need to configure the firewall/NAT machine to forward all traffic incoming to the EU2 ports to your machine.

dont listen to him. NAT is not your enemy. Its vital to home networks. If you didnt have it then youd like an internet unique address for each machine on your LAN. Just setup DMZ and youll be fine.

Thanks guys for all these replies.

These ports were actually forwarded and the firewall was down - I'm 100 % sure of this. I've seen one player on the common channel, so I suppose you have right about that the Valkyria - net is quite empty ( jeez, so AWESOME game and only a few players  ) .

I would try to test it with somebody with external IP ( Flame of Udun, I will accept your generous proposition :) )

EDIT: Everything works fine, Flame helped me to prepare myself to the mp games - thx everyone.

Dear moderators - now you can close this topic

There is actually a thriving community for this game considering its age. Vnet seems empty cos all decent games are orginized here. Its not a casual game for obvious reasons so people they to know who they are playing with.
