We tried to start an MP game on Valkyrianet and failed. We had highly modified version (using my mods) so I have few questions:

1. The report showed that our version are diffrent. It's possible (although unlikely) that we skipped something - but unlikely. We both had the same version DD 1.2 OETG

2. Does it matter if we have diffrent country's version? He owns German, I have English one..

3. Graphic packs. Does ity matter what graphic mods you are using? I use flags from GIP, Scyth's air units and CPack's land and naval units, so it's a nice mix ;)

I think the 1st and the 2nd point are the problems, maybe one of many.
But the 3rd point doen't have nothing to do with.

Try have the same version, and the same files

Most likely 2nd point is correct. Can anyone confirm this?

language versions are not the problem.

Then I don't know what is.. Are you entirely sure? We had almost pure 1.2 version, my friend only changed 1 minister's name and added Scyth's graphic pack..

1) With Paradox I guess anything is possible.
2) I have never heard of problems with mulitlanguage versions especially since you can also change the language used in the game by editing a single number in one of the files.
3) what exactly happens that you cant join - what message do u get? Did you manage to join with the vanilla (i.e. unmodded) versions?

1) I don't know - I had no problems with EU2 (LAN) :)

2) I know, but German version is special; Adolf Hilter and many similar diffrences (those names are, AFAIK, prohibited in games in Germany). So we talk not about changing language in settings.cfg - but about diffrent files (diffrent leaders, ministers etc., although probably same tags)

3) So the whole point here is that something has to be wrong. We had freshly installed 1.2 (both had REBB) but I had message that I had "diffrent version" of game. So even without ANY changes (well, almost any, but I doubt gfx has anything to do with it, I suppose main game files are much more important) game still didn't fire..

And big thanks for your feedback

i have no idea then why it happens. In vnet I have never heard anybody complain to me that they had a different lang. version and couldnt join. I also change the sprites and that doesnt effect the game version. Could you join other players? Who couldnt both of you?

I tried connecting with a friend of mine who had the Swedish version; I had the same problem as this guy did---both of us couldn't connect to the other. But when we tried to use Hamachi, the connection was perfect with no problems.

I can't understand why it would happen otherwise; if you have modded your game, its best to remove the mods, but if you re install it and the same happens then I don't know what to say.

I have my own IP, my friend has router. I suppose the problem is not diffrent language version, but diffrent files. German version has not only diffrent language but also diffrent files - I think that's why we cannot connect.

I've never tried to connect with anyone else - it was going to be mine first HoI 2 game.. :(

We'll probably use Hamachi but it's future - as I'm leaving in few days..
