All,

My friend and I are trying to setup our first MP game. We have tried both on a LAN and through VNET, but we are unable to get this started. We both have the same version and same patches and are on a LAN. When either of us try to host (either through LAN or VNET), however, we can't start a game for the other to join.

Specifically, if I try to host, after I type in my name and all that, I choose the GC 36 scenario and a country. But, then the "START" button is still gray and unclickable. We then thought, well, my friend needs to join and choose a country before the "START" button becomes active. The problem, though, is that when he chooses "MULTIPLAYER", even after I have done so, chosen to be a host, selected a scenario and a country, he cannot see my game and therefore cannot join it.

What are we doing wrong? Are we missing a step? hanks in advance for any feedback!

this might be to obvious but are you both in the same channel in vnet?
doesn't matter who goes to vnet first. both of you head for vnet. but both of you need to sleect the same channel, i.e. hoi 2 or common, or whatever.

When he chooses Multiplayer, your game won't show up until he chooses LAN. If it still doesn't show, then the firewall on one of the computers may not be allowing the traffic.
