MP Troubles

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, picked up Viky in the 6 Strategy Pack about 3 months ago. A friend of mine got it about a month ago and we've been wanting to play a multiplayer game and tried to recently, a couple days back. We've tried several times but keep having the same problem. We get the game started, set up, and start to play it but I immediately began to fall back on the date, each day for me takes about a minute and half while his take the usual amount of time. After a while a box pops up that tells me he has an extremely high latency and he has the samething except for me. We've tried turning off firewalls, routers, restarting comps, etc., etc. but nothings worked. There is no reason for the high latency sense we're fine in every other game and live less than a mile away.

Anyone have any idea what's wrong or how to fix it? If you need more information just ask and I'll provide it. Please, and thanks in advance.

Have the person with the fastest computer host. Other than that, it's a connection issue - run the game on slower speed (try very slow) and pause every once in a while to let people catch up to the host.

I think the gamespeed you have been using was too high... Most Victoria MP games are played on slow/very slow. Only the best hosts with a low number of players can take below normal. Try to play teh game on Slow without pausing, and if that doesnt help, agree that the host pauses each month and checks for date, if date is right, continue, if not, wait for client(s) to catch up. If it goes well for a while, only start checking each 3 months or something like that. Also, the first years are the heaviest for the gameengine, later on it tends to get better.
