Amric was a great guy. I will always fondly remember his support in my own efforts.

Great thread.

Indeed, stnylan. And wonderful to see your name crop up!!!

It's high time for another one to be nominated. While you are here, how about an oldie but a goodie suggestion from you? :)

Now there is a good one, stnylan. And I am only going on word of mouth as I don't believe I ever read it fully through. I've read plenty of other work by phargle, but that one somehow passed me by. I suppose I should rectify that right now. :D

Congrats @phargle!

Ah, yes. A true classic. I must confess I never got around to read it all though, as I was late to the party. Should rectify that now, I guess.:D

I hoped that @phargle would respond to this thread as I would be keen to see which work he might highlight. As he has not and time has passed, I will throw out another of my personal favorites...I call her eggy, but frogbeastegg's The Machiavellian Adventures of Princess Eleanor is among the finest bits of narrative I have ever read on this forum.

A strong female protagonist and research done that will make one blush if they have not done so, this was a fine tale - told with skill, determination from both character and writAAR, and as others have suggested about other works, among the finest exemplars of what one can do with what we do here. If you wish to read a good narrative AAR, there are few that would be quite as pleasing.

It was my pleasure to see it unfold at the time and as I say, it remains a favorite. I've no idea where eggy is these days (and hope that she does not take offense at my naming of her and is quite well) but even if not here to see it, one should look back on this work and take inspiration.

Congrats @frogbeastegg. Thank you for your time on this forum and the story you gave us.

Ah, yes. A masterpiece that I sadly never got around to read all through. Good choice, coz!

Oh that one was a pure delight, a well crafted tale with characters that leapt up out of the page.

Ahhh, good old Duke of Saxony (before the name change...I have memory of several that have done this.) ;)

A great choice, Nikolai and I must confess one I would not have thought of immediately. All the better! As I recall it moved fast and was one of the better works written by someone who was professed in not being a native writer in English. It did not seem to show in the work!

Congrats @DoS!

Ah, yes. I thought he was named Duke of Saxony, so I was a bit baffled when I dug up the AAR. I thought name changes were not allowed on these forums. Yes, he got a lot of updates out.:) Well written too, not a doubt!

Congratulations @DoS !

Very many congratulations

So, half a month has gone by. Time for a new nomination!

Judas Maccabeus's (@ won't let me find him...) superb The Trees of Autumn is my suggestion for the awAARd this time. A well written story, short but effectful chapters, and a great ending to boot. Give a round of applause for Judas Maccabeus!

I don't think I ever read that one. Congratulations to him nevertheless

Yet another great choice, Nikolai! I remember many of the man's stories and recall enjoying this one very much at the time. Congrats @Judas Maccabeus!
