Hello,
The multiplayer for me and my friend on Gameranger is not working. But before the patch it worked fine and now though the host just gets pushed to the main menu and nothing happens. It never did this before.

Help would be appreciated greatly.

I have this problem too, and it's not a version mismatch problem. The way GameRanger normally works is that after a host "starts" a game via the GameRanger client, Hearts of Iron (or in this case, Darkest Hour) will start, and then the Game Ranger client will automatically set up the multiplayer lobby in-game, in such a way that it looks as if someone is clicking through the appropriate menus. However, since the 1.3 beta patch, the magical self-moving, self-clicking mouse no longer works, and instead it simply sits at the Darkest Hour main menu awaiting user input. For someone like me, who has a hard time getting PDOX games to work in multiplayer without using GameRanger, this is very frustrating and I hope it is resolved soon!

Most likely an error with GameRanger and not Darkest Hour. It depends on how GameRanger sets up multiplayer. Most likely they have to update the script that does it since they may use some method like (I know an auto-leveling tool for another game does this) looking for a specific color on a button graphics to determine where to "click". This wouldn't be valid in 1.03 due to changed UI. I don't know what method they use. Anyway, nothing in the game executable has been changed to warrant it being a DH bug.

On another note, there aren't that many menus for you to click in Darkest Hour. I think it is very intuitive. If Gameranger set up your LAN, then why is it so hard for yourself to click and enter the lobby?

*insert WALLE reference here about human dependence on machines*

I dunno, LAN via Hamachi just doesn't work with Darkest Hour. It's something about how Game-Ranger sets it up, like we're joining a lobby it creates, whereas my friends and I can't join each other's lobbies. It's not that we don't know HOW to set up a multiplayer game, it's just that in all of its various permutations we can't get it to work. We can connect fine in newer games like EU3 and CK2, but for games built on the older engines we can never get MP started without Game Ranger.
