Well, I thought we should have a thread of talking about event chains that would affect several major powers, which are being made by different people.

For example: The creator Hungary wants a conflict event chain between Hungrary and Byzantium. If he would make the Byzantium's reaction events on his own, they possibly would mess up the Byzantium creator's plans. So cooperation is needed.

So it's good to have a thread for discussing such multi-national event chains.

And then I'll start by telling about the Byzantium's Genoa-related events: Genoa wants Byzantium's CoT and has a following plan to do so: If the Palaiologoi get the throne, they try to persuade them to move CoT to Athens. See events 200110 and 200117 in Byzantium event file. After the CoT is moved to Athens, the Genoans have option to seize it during Palaiologoi Turmoil (event 200121) or buy it from Byzantium with certain heir of Kantakouzenoi (event 200126). So if Genoa's creator could look at these and tell me if they suit his plans and either do Genoa's reaction events or allow me to do 'em, I'd be happy.

I don't know if Genoa has an owner yet Byak but I know what events you are talking about. If I get to Genoa before anyone else, I'll take care of the event chains you're talking about (or at least the italian side).

Along the same lines: I would like to have Genoa inherit Crete at some point (ala Venice/Cyprus), probably triggering another conflict between the Byzantium and the merchant republic. Crete's kind of your baby however, so I'd have to ask you if this is possible and when it would happen.

Well, if Palaiologoi don't get the throne, they would be unlikely to give their home away. Perhaps when they would be getting the Turmoil if ruling Byzantium (1632), they could be inherited by Genoa, if they didn't get the throne. If they did get the throne, I most logically see a choice for Byzanz then, either incorporate Crete to Byzantium or give it Genoa as reward.

That seems logical. So the possible scenarios are:

Palaiologoi Dynasty:

1) If Dauid assumes the throne in 1523, he did so with support from Genoa. When the dust settles, he can give Crete to his italian ally (Genoa inherits) or he can inherit it himself (option b).

Alternatively, perhaps he could move into the latin techgroup and automatically give Crete up to Genoa. If the Byzantium can get latin tech, I'd perfer that this is the only place. The Dauid Palaiologoi route gets extra painful later on, so I'd call it an excellent trade-off for the tech. I've said something along this lines in the Byzantium thread.

2) If Manoel assumes the throne in 1523, he stymies the Genoans, and also makes Crete inseperable from the Empire (BYZ inherits KRE).

No-Palaiologoi Dynasty:

3) By 1632, the Palaiologoi have been in exile for so long that they are no longer all that powerful. Because they were never in charge of the Empire and because they have always been tight with Genoa, perhaps they could get inherited here (with consequences to GEN).

What I like about the above, is that nothing there invalidates or runs at cross-purposes to the existing BYZ events. Depends on what you think though, Byakhiam. Would this add value to the scenario or is it just extra work?

Looks quite like the stuff I was thinking about, except if Byz goes with Manouel and the turks, Crete (as it's being run by another Palaiologos) would get an event whether to join Genoa or Byzantium (perhaps Byzantium even as B option).

Well, Hungary and Byzantium need some interlinking concerning the Balkans obviously..

I think that's just about perfect.

Crete (a good province all around) will end up in the hands of a nation that can put it to good use and the Byzantium will get one more reason to beat the crap out of the Genoa (and likewise). Its a win/win situation. :)

Cheers.

there'll be some intertwining Granada- Eire/Savoy/Brittany/Burgundy..
OTOH, these are things that probably should be annoying to the latter, and what better way to create chaos than to have no coordination :)

[seriously though, if I think/feel that a certain reaction event will have a major impact on another nation, I will be contacting either Archduke or the "owner" ]

Woot, guys I need the exact events, especially Genoa lacks events.
