EU2 is without a doubt one of my most favorite games ever. I just don't know how to participate in multi-player games. I have never engaged in online, multi-player gaming and I am not sure how to do so. I have been wargaming for 30 yrs and PC gaming since 1981 (TRS80), but have never participated in online gaming. Could someone please help me to enjoy this aspect of my gaming? By that I mean, help introduce me to the steps necessary to do so. Everyone's forbearance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Peace.:)

FIRST: you can play either via IP, but you need a direct opponent for that. But in game, go to multiplayer, hit Valkyrienet, log on and wait till someone arrives :) That's the easiest. Once you get the hang of it, join Deshi Bahini :D

Thank you. Also, could someone give me an idea on how long games take to play online? This is necessary as I have to schedule my gaming very tightly sometimes. What is the length of a typical session? Does the game incluse a chat feature so as to enable real-time communication between players? Thank you for your time on this.:)

Games can go on for however long you want...best to set a time limit at the start so every1 involved understands.

Yes there is a chat feature playing MP (shift+F12)

Just hitting TAB does as well :) Or was that in EU I only?

TAB works too, but I always forget that and start pounding combinations on shift, control, alt and Fs 10-12 till I find it! :D

Been drinking again? :)

Trog, i have usually played sessions of 1 hour - 3 hours...

After that, my concentration starts to crumble and my nerves start to twitch :)... but anything shorter than one hour isnt really worth it, in my opinion.

Thank you, all. I look forward to playing my first game of multi-player EU2 soon. I've been to valkyrienet twice to check it out. There weren't very many people there (actaully only one other). Do I look here for sceduled events? Or actually someone could e-mail me. I'm pretty eager to get a game or two under my belt. Once again, thanks all.:D

Once I gain a games worth of experience, or two, I would like to look into this "clan" thing.

Do you have ICQ? Once patch 1.02 comes out, we can organise a match sometime if you want. Patch 1.02 should be compatible with beta patches. Although the hour difference might be a pain in the crack

I will get ICQ. Also, the time difference is not too much of a problem. I get up very early anyway, so the 8 or 9 hr difference should hopefully not be too late for you. I usually rise between 5-6 AM on my days off.

When I have a day free (weekend - no school) I stay in bed till 10 MINIMUM

Ah, the chasm between generations...

When I was a student (70's-80's), I, too gamed until the wee hours. I saw far more of the morning between midnight and 6am than I ever saw between 6am to noon.

Now that I'm an old geezer (turning 40 next month!), I can't remember the last time I saw midnight; probably last New Year's. The dawn is very pretty (I'm up at 5:45 am each day.)

I'll still challenge VultureGFF or any of his ilk to a good game of Third Reich or World in Flames any day. But play Doom or Half-Life, and I'm dead meat against these kids!
