I've been having alot of trouble with multiplayer and I hope someone may have a few helpful suggestions for me.

I started out with the patched US version 1.08. It played fine single player and multiplayer with no dramas at all. The game was my pride and joy, I participated in multiplayer games all over the globe with no problems...

Untill...

One day I joined a MP game. The Host was using the IGC and I was still using the unmodified GC. The lobby worked fine but as soon as the game started it crashed me to desktop. Then when I attempted to play with other people using the original GC the same crash. So I reinstalled..and I made sure those pesky files the uninstall left behind were deleted too. Problems continued, the game enter lobby fine but crashed me to desktop on startup as it had before.

So I figured if you can't beat 'em join 'em and installed the IGC and attempted to play multiplayer with other IGC players..and the exact same crash.

This is terribly fustrating..seeing as only a few short days ago everything worked fine..Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ad I am going EU cold turkey.
 
Thoughts

First, what kind of connection do you use, modem or DSL/Cable. I would be concerned about firewalls basicly. But that may not be the prob. It was for me, but I fixed that. You might do an uninstall, then manually clean out the registry and reinstall. When you reinstall, use the new IGC 2.0. Aslo, try trace routing the host before you join and see it latency has become a prob. You're isp may be having probs. Oh and patch the game to 1.8 before you put in IGC
 
Where do i get IGC 2.0?

my IGC 1.9 won;t work.:(

Thanks for your suggestions. I know it's not a firewall problem and I don't think it's a latency issue as I do ping people to check the speed. I have your basic 36.6k modem, scum of the earth to the cable community I know but it's played many games with no problems. It could be I simply that I had the wrong version of the IGC. Hmm manually clean out the registry..I've never done that before but it may be my next step if the upgrade to IGC 1.9 don't work.

36.6 works fine

I'm convinced that's not the problem...perhaps it would become a problem if I was playing 5 player games hosted in Istanbul but for 2 and 3 player games it has worked fine in the past consistantly. So I think the minimum 56.6 thing is being generous in warning consumers of possible problems with anything less. A good idea, but not related to my problem.
 
I suggest...

I have installed the "normal" EU in one directory and the IGC version in another. Just copy the whole directory before you install the IGC...
With that you avoid problems during any MP game on GC.....:cool:
