Hi,
Thank you for reaching out again. I have not heard anything about how the investigation is going. I will highlight the multiplayer issue once again and see if I can get some new information.
Hey man. Love this game. Currently unplayable with this bug. Just when it gets fun, your friends get kicked or servers go down and they can't reconnect.
Good news is we have narrowed it down a bit. Pretty easy to reproduce.
Start any size map (we did small, if it does matter) with the Jungle preset.
Go Online
Have someone connect.
Place a massive "Dismantle Object" command (under Objects, the bulldozer at the bottom) on a large amount of trees.
The non-host person will get disconnected and they cannot reconnect (well, not successfully).
This was within a few seconds of making the map.
I canceled all the dismantle commands, and immediately after, my friend was able to reconnect.
He got disconnected a few times as we tried to cut down tree strategically so it wouldn't happen randomly while placing big buildings.
We went on to play for a few days, but now we are at 72 prisoners and expanded the small map one block to the north and there are no big commands to stop. Unplayable mid/late game.
But, hopefully, with a pretty easily reproduceable way to test the bug, it should help fixing it. I'm quite surprised this has been going on for years and hasn't been fixed.
There is another MP disconnect problem where both host and non-hosts get disconnect, but that is just a minor nuisance and likely just from the sudden traffic from the free launch on Epic. It does, however, compound the issue with trying to connect with a lot of things going on at once. There seems to be a separate but closely related issue with a large amount of commands while connected or trying to connect.
Edit: This is the base game (no paid DLCs) and through Epic, if there is a difference (seeing bug threads for this issues years prior lends me to think that it isn't just the base game or to do with the Epic build, but just in case).
