Hi there,

I have a couple of issue with multiplayer, the first one being constantly de-synching behind the host. I have a 5600x 3070TI 32GB Ram and 60mb/s up and 15mb/s down over powerline adapters. I have opened
  • TCP: 27015, 27036
  • UDP: 17780-17785, 27015, 27031-27036
Which did not solve the issue. I have made a firewall exception for both outbound and inbound traffic and also fully reset Windows from a USB with a full format.

I have also flushed DNS and released renewed IPs. I have also got Windows defender completely disabled and no other anti-virus.

My second issue is a problem where if I host a multiplayer game, my friends can join the lobby but it then does not allow them to choose a starting empire on their end and it shows themselves as an observer on their screen. For me I can see what they have selected but once they ready, when I press start game it just gets stuck on a loading loop until they leave or are kicked, once this happens the game finally starts.

We are playing with no mods and only Utopia DLC on version 3.6.1. All checksums match.

In Game Settings in our launcher, choose Cross Store MP (all players will have to do this). That makes you use the Nakama MP service instead of Steam's.

Does that help?

Tried this already unfortunately, I did manage to play properly using a VPN so I suspect it's an issue with the router given I am using a Draytek. Do you know if there are any particular conflicts / things I need to allow through on it?

Thanks for the reply

Any firewall in your computer or router will need to allow all traffic from steam.exe , stellaris.exe and Paradox Launcher.exe through in both directions.

The issue won't be specific ports as Steam and Nakama use different ones.

Due to how routers work with firewall restrictions, I believe certain IP addresses will need to be allowed through the router firewall because as far as I know it isn't possible to allow executables through on your router unlike Windows firewall.

Do you know of any particular IP ranges that will need to be unblocked in order for this to work? I tried looking through Wireshark but there are many outbound/inbound connections for Stellaris / Steam.

On a side note, I can play the game perfectly normally using a VPN with no issues.

Well, again, Steam MP and Nakama MP servers will use different IPs to each other.

The bottom of this page has links to the Steam IPs:

I don't have similar info for Nakama I'm afraid.

That proves it is indeed a firewall issue!
