A quick report from the Nitro office (visiting today), we just had some multiplayer sessions; Team Deathmatch, Last Ship Floating and Domination. Really great stuff.

The best part of this was zooming in on the broadsides of the 90-gun ships. :)

Hoping to present a video explaining the multiplayer aspect within soon.

Frederik, I think there are a LOT of people waiting to hear more news of the MP side of the game. A bunch of us like the trading and diplomacy and empire-building aspects of the SP campaigns but there is a whooe separate group of customers out here I think who are interested more in online battles, ladders, leagues, clans and such.

Will there be internal support from Nitro/Paradox for a set of EIC leagues and ladders?

From what I have seen of the videos so far the battles look rather too simple and arcade-like. Will there be any chance of Nitro tweaking the historical/realistic setting so that those of us who are more serious gamers (a lot of us older guys played AoSII to death online) so that we can really test out our sailing and tactical skills in a more realistic setting?

I'll make sure to get someone from the team to reply.

Video is coming, we'll see when it shows up :)

Great news mate. Indeed it would really bring down the quality of the game if the battles were simple, boring and repetitive. Total War did a great job at the battles, but pretty much screwed up the Turn based portion... so if you guys can balance those two things... I can see a new franchise. :)

Does anyone know is there "grand campaign" which is like single player but multi player? So it ain't just one battle and then start new game.

Many games have this so it's little...hmm...disappointing. :(

I think it would be nice, if I could play as France against human Britain on the grand map.

I'm wondering if the "Domination" multiplayer scenario is what you are asking for. That is, you have to "dominate" the trade from the East Indies and Africa by controlling a certain amount of provinces or securing a certain amount of income, or whatever?? This is, of course, just speculation on my part, but that's what I thought it might be?

The MP mode is for battles in EIC, not for the grand campaign.

Ginko, yes, as in TW. The MP is just one-off sea battles.

I do not know anyone who has created an RTS style campaign game where there is MP in the full campaign mode. I can see lots of impracticalities as to why that wouldn't work.

Port Royale had entire same map that was in single player, except there was no story line, but multi player replaced it very well. Only problem was that you couldn't join to a naval battle that was running.
