So I started having issues after launching my game, this happened out of nowhere as I played in the early morning, in the afternoon I received this error:

I tried removing the file but than upon launching I receive the report:

I tried adding the game to the list to be allowed through on windows defender & antivirus scanner, but I keep getting the same errors.

Doing a ''clean'' reinstallement of the game does NOT help, as the first launch of the game just gets cancelled & the 2nd launch gives me the first error.

Anyone who has any idea how to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings

Someone said it's a launcher update issue, not something on your end. I haven't played since yesterday, so I don't know. If it's truly a launcher issue, they'll probably patch it soon(ish).

AFAIK both these issues are caused by ransomware protection software which blocks the launcher(first error) or the game(second error) from writing their files. Often a ransomware protection is built into an antivirus, but has a separate exception list to which eu4 and the launcher have to be added.

  • If you have Windows Defender(also called Microsoft Defender), add the launcher and eu4 to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list(here are instructions for that).
  • If you have bitdefender, add the launcher and eu4 to the list of ransomware exceptions and "give it access" to "protected files".
  • If you have avast, you have to add the launcher and eu4 to the allowed list in the ransomware shield

The launcher in this case is "C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe". You may have some older launcher versions in the exception list already, but that doesn't help.
