Been playing EU for a few months now on and off. Always check the board and find answers to small nagging questions. Great help here. Here's one little thing that's nagging me.

I know that when you are playing and important events occur, ie. new monarch, death of a general, etc. there is usually some musical or sound effect associated with that event. There are many times little musical sounds that happen that seem to have no direct event to the country that I'm playing (at least nothing shows up on the log indicating such). I was just wondering if these musical indicators are reflecting something about my country .... or about other countries in the game? Plus what are these little musical attributes trying to tell me? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

There was a long thread a while back about "what does the harp music mean." I can't remember if there was a definite concensus reached in that thread, but after a lot of observation I have reached the conclusion that it means a merchant somewhere has lost their monopoly (or maybe just gone out of business).

You think the harp is random events? Doesn 't make sense to me. I used to scout around other countries to see if they had civil war or stab drop (the two random events you can see for yourself), but there was never a corelation.

I'm telling you I must have checked about 80 times after harp, in each case a merchant had been competed away somewhere since I last checked that CoT.

Don't pay attention to BiB. :D

The harp sound controversy transcends anyones viewpoint. Though "I" am sure it occurs when an ai controlled fleet suffers attrition. :)

Argh...

I'm being BiB'ed. :D

But of course, I'm with the general consensus that it is random events.

Ah, I just noticed your "appelation".

You are no longer BiB. An imposter amongst us. Remember, a while back I exposed you. No one cared. Now you admit it yourself - "Ceci n'est pas une BiB".

Ha!

:D

Interesting responses here. :) I looked at the previous threads about the harp music and random events seems to have an edge. But Jos raises a good point about the variation of the harp music.

Could it have anything to do with the fluctuation of your nation's relationship to other nations. Not just going up or down .... but hitting threshold markers, like moving from neutral to friendly? Just a thought. Its still nagging me! :)

Would you mind saving this lazy slug the search and tell me what possibilities have been ruled out?
