Battles between Ming and Qing is very fierce, last more than 40 years and both sides have very good generals and troops. But I didn't found good source to compare the tactics and equipment, and comparison to Western's. Any help?

I am not sure @Ming hunts with a musket anymore. Then again he is from Missouri and he might want to re-enact Josey Wales 'Missouri boat ride' to anyone from Kansas who crosses the border from time to time. Never know about them folks who demand you show 'em everything.

But considering Ming and I became friends years ago over shared memories of a fabled Chinese restaurant in Jefferson City Missouri that I want to call Qing Dynasty (although I might be confusing it with another favored restaurant) this thread is very apropos.

Memories are hazy but I believe I saw some details in an Osprey men at arms book. It may have been this one.

It was romanized as Yen Ching and the 'Ching' is not the same Qing in Qing dynasty. ;-)

It's an old name for Beijing, IIRC.

This lecture touches on the issues of military organisation and technology though it's more focused on the socio-political elements of the Manchu conquest.
