Well, there's the early expansion of the Ottomans, for one. I believe there was a crusade after this date against the Ottomans, which was soundly defeated in Europe. There's also the Reconquesta in Spain to consider, which was ongoing throughout the entire game.

One thing I like to play is the Reconquista and help the orders to take back the lands from the "infidels". Note that I am not a rasist or Islam-hater. No offense.
