Am playing Rome -not VV or gold but 1.3
My characters don't seem to marry enough, so they don't get any children..
I want to generally increase the odds of marriage (am assuming that will lead to more children :D). Where can I mod that?

Or alternatively increase the odds of new families appearing?

defines.txt, these are the values you want to mess with

Code:
10 # _CHDEF_SPOUSE_CREATION_PROMINENCE_THRESHOLD_ ( Wives will be created for male chars with at least this prominence )
	2 # _CHDEF_BASE_NR_OF_CHILDREN_PER_COUPLE_ ( The number of children allowed per couple )
60 # _CHDEF_ADDITIONAL_CHILD_PROMINENCE_THRESHOLD_1_ ( An additional child will be allowed at this prominence )
120 # _CHDEF_ADDITIONAL_CHILD_PROMINENCE_THRESHOLD_2_ ( Yet an additional child will be allowed at this prominence )
	2 # _CHDEF_ADDITIONAL_CHILDREN_FOR_KING_ ( Additional children allowed for kings and queens )
1 # _CHDEF_ADDITIONAL_CHILDREN_FOR_HEIR_ ( Additional children allowed for the heir to the throne in monarchies )
100 # _CHDEF_COURT_SIZE_CHILD_PENALTY_THRESHOLD_ ( When the total number of characters in a country is above this, one less child will be allowed per couple )

My defines.txt doesn't have those. It has these for the character set :
16 #_CHDEF_AGE_OF_ADULTHOOD_
45 #_CHDEF_MAX_CHILD_BIRTH_AGE_
1 #_CHDEF_CHILD_BIRTH_TO_PREGNANCY_WAIT_ (months)
40 #_CHDEF_OLD_AGE_
2 #_CHDEF_SON_INHERITANCE_MULTIPLIER_
2 #_CHDEF_FIRST_SON_INHERITANCE_MULTIPLIER_
0.05 #_CHDEF_BASE_DOWRY_
0.1 #_CHDEF_MAX_DOWRY_
30 # _CHDEF_MISSION_TIME_
0.4 #_CHDEF_BASE_CHARACTER_ASSASSINATION_CHANCE_
24 #_CDEF_MONTHS_BETWEEN_ASSASSINATIONS_
0.3 #_CHDEF_CHARACTER_ESCAPE_AFTER_FAIL_ADD_
0.5 #_CHDEF_BASE_CHARACTER_SPY_CHANCE_
30 #_CHDEF_DAYS_COMPLETE_MISSION_
12 # _CHDEF_MONTHS_BATTLE_TO_TRIUMPH_
3 # _CHDEF_CHARACTER_TRIUMPH_COST_DIVIDER_
50 # _CHDEF_CHARACTER_TRIUMPH_LOYALTY_MAXGAIN_
50 # _CHDEF_CHARACTER_FREE_HANDS_LOYALTY_MAXGAIN_
0.3 # _CHDEF_CHARACTER_FREE_HANDS_CORRUPTION_MODIFIER_
My problem seem to be very few characters MARRY..So they don't have any children.

Think he missed the part about 1.3.

The stuff he posted is from 2.0 and onwards :)

There is very little you can do about this in 1.3 but as Wiz points out there is a fix for it however it does require the expansion so you might want to have a look at it.

If I recall correctly what we did back in the pre 2.0 days was to add a bunch of women to the character files so there would be more eligible women to marry for the male characters, so if you insists on using 1.3 that would be the way to go.

TheLand made a little mod called 25 women or something like that and should be here on the forums if you go back far enough so try to find that one if you can.

..Seems the mod is designed to work at the start of a campaign. I started in 474. It is now 508. Can I still make this work with the savegame I have? And how?

"This mod defines 20 new Roman women and girls, who are aged up to 25 in January 474.

Rome starts off very short of female characters. So adding extra women means that your characters will be able to get married, have babies, and continue their dynasties."

Installed it, moved savegames to the folder in familias...no effect. No extra characters in my savegame :( -But it works in a newly started game..

Once the game is started the only place you can change the parameters is in the save game file, so no, unfortunately you are unable to add the women to the current game unless you add them to the save game - which I am not entirely sure can be done without messing up the file because of the family ties stored there.

1.3 is the last patch for the pre-expansion game.
