So a while back I decided to try out some mods, namely GFM and FoM, but FoM just crashes at executing history and I'm not sure if GFM even worked but I got past the loading screen with it nonetheless.
I got in touch with the maker of FoM and he did his best to help but the problem didn't show up at his end and nobody else has reported having an issue like mine.
So I started to look around online and found a lot of posts suggesting to get rid of cache or to go through history file and find the fault.
I have re-downloaded the game and the mod, and done the cache thing but nothing works.
Any ideas on how I can solve it?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Could just be your system can't run complex mods, do you have enough RAM or cpu memory? GFM especially requires a stronger system.

Can you run the base game with no mods?

What error do you get when running the game with the mod enabled?

Also enable the 4gb patch:

?
Steam or not is completely irrelevant for Victoria 2 in this case.
Mods always go into the game files folder of Vic2.

IF GFM did work you might want to delete a potentially already created FoM folder in Documents with its own cache files.
It can also help to create that yourself before launching a mod the first time and copying music files into it, as that is one
of the things probably taking most time on first launch, apart from the creation of its own map/cache folder.
