Oh, really? Are you sure whether you can reproduce that process with some method like casting height-raising spells on that ogre hero repeatedly ? Or let some units scout all lower-height areas near those mountains hexes for a unit won't be seen if he is moved by some odd methods like the condition you mentioned.

As I see your post and it's obviously not fake, but once that guy terraformed my land in the Exiled-type game, my ogre just disappeared. There were no enemies nearby, he's not in the lord window, he was in my homeworld at full health, and he just disappeared.

First thing that comes to mind is that there were enemies nearby. Since you couldn't see them, probably invisible. Did you have any quests active? Sometimes they can spawn an enemy with invisibility as the target, and if it moved your ogre to a nearby tile they could have likely killed him.

What can kill a full health ogre in one turn?

He was standing on that volcanic mountain tile and he disappeared right after it was terraformed to that.

Another thing that needs to be fixed in this game. We see everyone else's combat but our own. I never know what is attacking my units, and or what is killing them in a lot of cases.

Another thing I don't understand about Skycrow's post, is turn 3? How do you or anyone terraforms the land on turn 3?

He wouldn't be at full health anymore because of the lava and relocation, as they would both damage him. After that any one of several temple units would have the capability to finish him off. And a few of them have innate invisibility.
I'm not saying this is what happened, it's just a possibility. It could have also been a glitch, that made him disappear instead of moving. Did he have any artifacts equipped? If he did, then they should be laying on the ground nearby if he actually died. If they were not there, it was likely a glitch that made him disappear.

No items. I saw no temples nearby (and that screenshot was taken right after he disappeared) Could the lava have killed him in one turn?

Can't see how lava can kill anyone in one turn when at full health. That is what 2 or 3 spirit damage per turn?

Well, I can believe something from there being able to kill him. But not it going back on the same turn. Unless... do you think it's possible that the relocation put him on the portal and sent him through? Then, something over there could have killed him. I'm not sure that is even possible, but if it is it could explain it.

Though, ATM my bet is on it glitched out.

Anything can and will travel through a portal once a Great Mage has activated it. That portal has been activated, because it is glowing. The Ogre had around 42 hit points and with no gear and I presume relatively low level, its resistances are not good, so it isn't very hard to kill; a couple of Mosquitoes might do it. Possible explanation: something came through the portal and attacked him, then another Great Mage at war with you finished both the Ogre and the monster off with an AoE. This could also happen with a Mage not at war with you, but you would have gotten a popup saying to be careful with spells. I also like Shidan's theory that he died on the other plane.

I don't think it could have been another Great Mage, as he hadn't been through the portal yet. Which would mean he likely had not met anybody else yet.

Also I tested raising a volcano under a unit next to a portal, and it refused to put him on it. It would just relocate a few tiles away instead.

@wetblowdryer Probably should have asked this sooner but, what mods (if any) did you have active? It's entirely possible something from one of them could be responsible.

Only one that boosts capital growth. Could it have sent him to the edge of the map just to let him die perhaps?

Nah, the chasm acts just like mountains. It just relocates to the nearest available tile for him to stand on. For that matter it wouldn't put him on chasm in the first place.

I have to say, unless this is just a glitch, I'm totally baffled to what could have happened.

Well, thanks for helping anyways.

I guess he could have went through the portal, but I highly doubt it. It was one of those nasty tropical island worlds with crackens, giant turtles, and demon wood. When I first entered that world, I started on a small island at the corner of the map and when I got there, no temples were on there, but there were crackens near the shore, but not close enough to hit someone adjacent to the portal. Even if he died, I am sure I would have seen monsters attack him during the end turn as I have that turned on. I definitely had one and he just disappeared. Here he is right here a few turns earlier.

And no, the ice queen didn't kill him. I specifically remember moving him to that tile where the mountain was terraformed.
