I will miss any possibility for non-Ottoman play in the Balkans. Of course this was highly limited in vanilla EU3, or would have been, if the Otto AI didn't suffer from crippling retardation. But I liked playing in the region in MEIOU.

To respond to the actual conditions of the OP, I can't really say, because I don't have a good idea of the map conditions in 1444. Has Paradox released anything online, or are you all just going off of memory, or the 1444 scenario in EU3?

Yes, we all hate Burgundy. But its way better than starting in 1399. If it had been me, the game would start in 1470, at the earliest.
I LOVE BURGUNDY.

Everything about it.

They don't do 1453 because the don't reuse the same start date. So far every release of EU (expansions excluded) has had a different start date. It's kind of novel~ So I wouldn't expect to see 1492, 1419, 1453, or 1399 again anytime soon.

I'm definitely not going to miss anything from the 1399-1444 period.

Finally there will be a well worked out, well fleshed out campaign start that has Ottomans being SCARY instead of retarded; that has Burgundy being the late medieval powerhouse it really was, and that has the house of Habsburg in a prominent position without needing to tag Austria as "lucky" or ahistorically depict them as a unified duchy before its time.

OK well I don't do that whole release thing and I only play as holland XD
But again the idea of this post was to see if anybody else would miss something in 1444 that was there in 1399. I wasn't planning this to be a whole discuttion of how to release Holland or play as a different dutch nation XD
Then you should have said so in the title, the current title makes the thread seem to be about Holland.

Burgundy already seemed to be quite a powerhouse in 1399 in EU3 as I recall it. Rich land, missions for more rich land and good sliders.

First of all Burgundy is awesome, second just use a later game start/scenario. I expect it will work roughly the same as in EU3. I've never really understood this obsession with what date EU3 begins, just make it 1399. That way if you want to begin in 1399 you can, if you want to begin in 1452 that's fine too.

I tend to like Burgundy, though Austria-Burgundy isn't bad either. A later start date would decrease the overlap with CK2, but if you don't like CK & EU and only EU, then that doesn't help much.
Furthermore personally I would miss Brabant more than Holland;).
