As most of us here, I love EU2. To date, I was part only of 2 regular ("real") MP games, one of which I also finished. During these games, I noticed something I don't like. I don't say it applies to all people playing nor I wan't to judge anybody for the way he plays. I'll just explain my attitutede and present my "dream about mp game".
Why I don't like the way MP games being played
What I don't like the most is gamey behaviour. It robbes me of any interest in game played that way. After years we have EU2 on the scene, everything is thought through and calculated. We know exactly whether it is better to hold big army or rather build a manufactury. As a wise governors of our countries we do our best according this calculations. And that leads to game I can hardly enjoy.
So how do heck would you like to play mp, eh?!
I don't know if anybody remembers EU2 NPPBEM game, which was played from September 2002 till somewhere in the end of year 2003. It was more about imagination, less control over processes and more diplomacy. It was not ideal. It was first and afaik the only game of its kind played on this forum. But it satisfied me much more than regular mp's I was part of and the ones I read about. What comes out of it for me is the idea for regular mp game, where would be focus on roleplaying rather than getting most out of game engine. Where atmosphere would count as primary measure of quality, not raw numbers.
I believe there are players with the same or similar desires. I hope we can stick together and get what we want out of this old lady.
