If I manage to load a savagame I can play it without any problems. The game does not crash during playing. However, when I save the game and then try to load it, it crashes to desktop. It does not matter whether the aforementioned savegame is loaded from steam cloud or my drive, the result is the same. I attach two savegame files: first, called atsv_backup.ck3 is the furthest working savegame I can load. The second file called kaiser_lost.ck3, generated a month or so after the former file is the crushing one.

Am having the same issue. I can't find my save file location so unfortunately can't share saves, but it seems to be happening after a particular year/state/event as I've tried loading previous saves and playing for a few years and it's fine, but loading any new save after about 20ish years past the old save results in a CTD. Can't even submit a crash report as the program says it failed to upload for an unknown reason. All my saves are direct as cloud saving doesn't even create a save file for me. Very frustrating as I keep losing hours of progress. Hope it can be resolved so that I don't have to abandon this playthrough :(

if you can’t find the same it seems likely youre using cloud saves which currently are problematic. Your local saves are normally under MyDocuments/paradox interactive/crusader kings iii

No, there's something else going on that's being overlooked by devs because of all the insistence on it being the cloud save issue. I turned off cloud saves and this issue has not stopped, it is occurring for another reason.

I guess I will chime in and say I am having this issue as well. I can start a new game perfectly fine, but eventually any playthrough will reach a point where I cannot load the save. If it is a mod conflict it's the weirdest one I've ever seen since I can play the game fine. The error log isn't very helpful with this, as it points to mod errors, including mods I haven't even turned on, when to my understand if it was a mod, I couldn't start a new game at all.

These are all saves located on my computer and not cloud saves. Any of the autosaves doesn't work. Transfering in last_save.ck3 doesn't work. I don't know what the issue but this is incredibly frustrating because I would like to stick to one playthrough. The only possible issue I can think of is ck3 is saved on a different folder from my documents folder, but launching it in admin doesn't help.

I'm sorry for this problem, there is a bug with cloud saves at present.

You may be able to recover your save with this process:
IF you haven't subsequently started a new campaign.

Please only use local saves until this problem can be fixed.

My apologies for the problem!

I am using local saves. In fact I did the exact thing mentioned in that post, copying last_save.ck3 into my save games, and loading it. It still crashes to desktop immediately after finishing being loaded. I can load one much older physical save of this campaign, and the most recent one I can load (which is about 50 years behind the autosaves and local save I am trying to load) is a cloud save.

The fact is, everybody who referred to the problem described above also claimed to use only local saves and the issue still persists.

Hi, I have the same problem :D I only do local saves. I noticed, that the problem appeared after 1000. fixed this problem temporarily by loading an older save, but then the problem reappeared after 20 years in the game. I also checked the period for which the game creates corrupted savesby switching to the observer. I checked up to 30 years from the start of the date for the save. Nothing broke. I also tried find the problem in logs, but I cannot trace the source of the corruption.

Yep. Ironman run just make poof. That was my first time you know. It is always important to make first time remembered and now i very upset.
Ironman defaults to cloud saves; if that's what happened here please check post #9 above.

Everyone who gets this on LOCAL SAVES only, please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save there, AND the last_save.ck3 that preceded it.

Sorry for that problem!
