This has been a long time coming and I've really had to think about it etc. etc. etc. But it's with a heavy heart that I've decided to postpone purchasing new pdx releases for the unforeseeable future. I mean, I have most of the games released thus far, I can't even find the time to play them all. And the DLCs... Do I really need more? For instance, I have all EU4 content up until Leviathan, so I thought I have to get it right? But I decided to hold off, and actually I feel so much better now that I did! I think I'll keep holding off. I'll let Heirs of Alexander be the last one for now. Yup. Maybe one day I'll try out some of the pdx content I don't have yet, but let's see. Can't predict the future. Okay. Good talk, everyone! Enjoy your day! :)

They where just saying in an interview that player toxicity is driving them away from the forums. Well, lol, maybe there is a reason when players are angry? I would be angry too to pay 20 € and get a product that's not working or get a game canceled that was actually on a promising way. Well, the devs can play their games in multiplayer together without us customers then I guess. Good luck.

Oh I always try my best not to be one bit toxic. I've really enjoyed imperator and it was going in such a good direction, so I'm pretty disappointed to say the least on their decision. I think it's also fair that the announcement made me reconsider my spending habits. Which I've considered in the past, not being totally sarcastic here, but this helped me achieve some clarity.

As I wrote in another thread, I don't feel betrayed - I had and have enough fun with IR to consider it an excellent purchase. So there is no reason for me to stop getting new CK3 or HoI4 content - provided I like it. I will even consider buying a new game - provided I'm interested and the release shape looks decent enough.

Still they will lose money out of my wallet. The share intended to go to IR will likely flow to other games with a similar setting, provided by other developers. What surely will not happen is that it is now magically redirected to Stellaris, EU4 or whatever else is their in terms of other Paradox games I haven't already. Again not to punish anyone because of the IR decision - I'm just not interested in those, be it because of the setting or the quality of the product.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have been a fan of PDX since 2008, and whenever I purchase a PDX game, I expect more than two years of development. This is, of course, on me because PDX never promised anyone they'd keep on developing Imperator post-release. However, their business practice and history have led me to believe that this is the company's policy, but I guess I was wrong - and even though I have the utmost respect for the dev team behind the game, my opinion and respect for PDX as a company has taken a significant hit. The result is that from now on, I'll stop purchasing DLCs I'm not interested in (like flavor packs for regions I never play) in order to "thank" the studio for the free patch. And even more, I am pretty sure the rest of my MP community is easily convinced to do the same.

Same here. I am done. I invested hundreds of dollars into the games that are becoming increasingly buggy with each new patch/DLC.

And then when finally there is one good and working game (I:R 2.0), PDX kills it.

Perhaps players should finally start to vote with their wallets?

Yeah, I'll likely do the same. Lately, I already have been spending less time playing Paradox games and I haven't even bought the latest EU4 DLC (while I bought all the previous ones on release). This decision regarding Imperator was the push I needed to stop buying Paradox games (and DLC) at release.

I subscribe this 100% this. I perfectly understand that from a business perspective they probably did the right choice, but they can not expect that some people don’t get frustrated. Specially since the whole brand of paradox is based on making niche products with a lot of feedback and maintaining development and improve the games over the years. Also, being a Paradox fanboy is incredibly expensive.
