Just a question on how/why my heir was granted a county by the winner of the first Crusade.

MY heir with 29 martial! was unlanded and was appointed as my marshall for Kingdom of Ireland training troops in Dublin.

the Crusade had been called for Kingdom of Niceasia ( sry on spelling, most of Anatolia )

I didn't join as King of Ireland , 2 of my Dukes went, my heir wasn't in their courts.

The Crusade succeeded, the King of Italy was granted the crusader target. He granted the Kingdom to one of his relatives ( different already from ck2 ) which I thought was a cool mechanic... but then...

I noticed that my heir was now Count of one of the new Kingdoms counties! I also noted that one kinsman from one of the family offshoots ruling a dukedom in Ireland was granted another county. But that was it, the rest of new Kingdom was then filled with randomly generated charectors....

So.. what happened here? I didn't join Crusade, My heir as far as I know didn't join Crusade ( unless I missed that? I was involved in an English Civil war to grab some counties in Wales at the time ) Can some unlanded charectors join crusades and be rewarded in CK2 plus?

Thxs for any reply.

Those who participated in the crusade have the right to ask for a fief in th conquered land for a close relative. It's possible the check on that relative doesn't specify "in my court" -- I'll need to check.

Ok Thxs again. That's a good mechanic . I guess my kinsman Duke of Munster asked :) . My heir was asking me for a fief earlier of course I told him I thought of a church career , maybe he believed me :)
