Hey, guys! I just got Victoria and I'm new to the forums. I'm just wondering how I can play as all the countries instead of the select few they give me to start. I see everyone talking about Belgium and Brazil and Argentina and I would like to play as those countries. If you can help me out that would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Right click on any of the flags to change it. I think it actually says almost exactly that on the screen. ;)

Edit: Welcome to Vicky. :)

Thanks a lot! Looking forward to playing but I'm not to good right now. :(
It'll come in time!

yeah vickys alot more in depth than every other Paradox game and took me a good couple of months to work out. basically what i do when i load up is go to world market set large selling amounts for the resources you are making, buy the resources you need and then on the budget screen set tariffs as high as possible unless its way to high on the modifier. Welcome to Vicky!

It is always usefull to have someone to explain to you how the game works....
perhaps someday Gaming companies will realise this and make tutorials in which a player explains(in a vid window or something) how the game is played, not a useless narrator that teaches you how the mouse works:rofl: Again! yep I just saw a PC yesterday for the first time in my life, bought it, and decided to go play one of the most complicated games the second game.

It took me more than a year of various failed campains to get the grip of vic, the best help came from the vicky wiky and of course the forum is always usefull to get to the especifics, which is the most important thing to know in any strategy game, and of course, it is always neglected in all the manuals...

Manuals will say something like:

People wont like more millitary expending...WHAT PEOPLE? single pops? All pops? what pops?¿ HOW MUCH THEY WONT LIKE IT? what will go up or down?? mil will go up? conciousness? by how much???...you never get anything especific. That is where the vicky wiky and the forums come into play.

It took me 2 hours to explain to my buddy how vic worked, and after 1 week of playing he was telling me things that I didnt know about. So best way always of learning how to play is get some guy that lives nearby to explain it to you, if that is possible.

That is also how I learned to play Europa Universalis tabletop game, which would have taken me like 2 years if I had to read the manual and do a couple of test plays...We got a guys that knew how to play it, and the same afternoon I was already being DOW'ed playing as Spain by the whole damned Europe...oh that is what I call historical realism...excellent game...excellent!:D

so true, shame tho about the learning curve victoria is a truely unique game. i learnt pretty much everything from the vicky wiki which i think may actually be closed atm

Try China in 1914 Scenario...

Tried it, although you could build whatever factories you want, those are unprofitable and contribute very few to your industrial score, and your techs are too backwards... sort of pointless to play a nation that would never become a Great Power.
