CK 2 merchant republics, EU IV native tribes, HoI 4 equipment.

At the other end of the spectrum by a long distance Victoria 2 sphere of influence and its effect on trade. For global trade in that era done in a much better fashion see Pride of Nations...

ONE specific gameplay feature? That's a hard one!

Now that everybody has said Pops from Vicky, I have to say something different: The crisis system from Victoria 2. Alternatively the Religious Leagues in EU4. Both systems stir up the alliance webs and can lead to chaotic, devastating wars, which are fun to play.

Haha.. nothing that has yet been announced, or might ever get announced
W40k themed GSG? :D

One system? Hmmm...Probably colonization from EU IV. Yes, I know it's simplistic and not very deep, and mostly involves lots of waiting around, but there's just something so satisfying about pushing back the boundaries of ignorance, exploring the map, and colonizing it bit by bit. Possibly my favorite achievement run ever was getting First Come, First Serve with a nation geared towards colonizing, and running something like 18 simultaneous colonies near the end of the game to finish in time. :D

Colonization could definitely use a revamp, but I still love it. :)

Family trees in Crusader Kings 2. As in the fact that characters are related to each other, and you can trace through the lineages to see how, not the visual trees themselves.

Sure, Mr Nibbles. CK2, the ability to take to the seas in the name of Odin; sacking holdings, and absconding with the rich treasures and nubile women of those mewling outlanders.

If you could add similar features to other games - allow the Japanese convert to Norse Paganism in HoI, for example, so they can use their carrier fleets to launch Viking raids (QE2, captured by the IJN, then raised by Showa Falkyir to worship Freyja?) - that would be much appreciated, thanks.

Vicky 2 pops. Specifically how they vote, migrate, promote, demote, and join factions and activist groups.

Runner up would be EUIV's Holy Roman Empire.

Runner up is Vic 2s economy

My favorite? Your most unique one: the RPG elements of CK2 - both the character-driven gameplay and the myriad of stats and traits that give these characters life.

This isn't an easy question for me to answer. Every game has something in it I really like, or I wouldn't play it.

But, my vote has to go to Vicky 2 for both the pop and econ. Both of those are well done in their depth and complexity, but mostly I like how they play off of each other. Pop and econ are the base with society being the point.

I love the threaten war mechanic in EU4 and the similar great power abilities.

After all the hard work to get strong bullying all the other nations is so much fun, even if it's not the ideal way to expand sometimes.

Alternatively the thing I've never been fully satisfied with in any of the pdox games I've played is trade. EU4 did it best from what i've played but it's just not enough. With a bit of work i think it would definitely become my favourite.

Oh, right, one thing that I'd like as an honorable mention is the Race for Africa in Victoria II. Now, I think it overly simplifies the actual political and population situation in Africa during the 19th century, and is a bit fiddly with the way colony points are generated and invested into areas to make colonies. But it is intriguing in the way that it tries to emulate the rough timetable of how the European powers expanded into the continent, that isn't just the standard GSG invade and conquer strategy (looking at you, Sokoto).

Other than, as many already mentioned, the economy in Victoria 2, I also liked the technology system in HoI 3 (mainly the theoretical/practical system). I am also very fond of the randomness (or rather absence thereof) in the Hearts of Iron games.
Of course there is still room for improvement in both of those, the economy in Victoria 2 feels too static (prices don't adjust quickly enough and moving production resources (bar workers) between factories, as well as more dynamic factory size adjustment, does not occur at all) and the technology system in HoI 3 can be quite annoying to deal with at times, considering how many technologies there are.

Stellaris - Ethics. They allow customization of empire playstyle in an thematic way, creating very different empires without just filling the game with gimmick factions. I like that factions are defined more by ideology than biology, and how this leads to classic space opera politics in an organic way.

Civilian economy and politics - Vicky
Diplomacy - EU IV
War economy - HOI IV
Dynasty and RPG character like stuff - CKII

Those four in one game would make me very happy :)

Honourable mention goes to Stellaris for exploration and opening game aswell as some of the cool wierd things you can do like uplift species and so on.

All PDX games have something interesting, which give to the game specificity.

Victoria II : POP and economy, this game is really deep on these points, and I hope a mix of these feature with those of EUIV (see above).

CK II : Family tree is amazing, following a dynasty is fun !

EUIV : Colonisation, I love that, maybe would need deeper gameplay. I love also the random NW, which give me the feeling to be an explorer !!

Perhaps this doesn't quite count as gameplay feature, but my favorite would have to be the character-centric core design of CK2.

Can't say much about the other series. I've played both HoI and Victoria, but they didn't hold my interest for long. And while I put a lot of hours into EU3, I can't say that it was because of the gameplay. I just enjoyed being able to completely rewrite the history. Which is something that became much more tedious in EU4, and as the consequence, I haven't played it much.

Cheers everyone for replying! Has been an interesting read..
