Darkest Hour and its mods are excellent, but something I miss from HOI2 Arma is how all the units had country-specific model names. I have tons of great ideas for naming these things by country myself (especially with the Kaiserreich mod; my favorite is Qing China and the skies are practically the limit being alternate history and all), but I don't know how I can do that, as the models name sheet is always read-only and won't let me change it with Excel. Any tips for a lowly noob on how to name my beautiful Chinese tanks? Thanks!

Save a copy of models.csv in another folder, edit the one in the other folder, and then replace the original models.csv with your modded one. Make sure to back up the original, of course.

Thanks! Hey, just to clarify. When the PLA names tank models in our universe (Type 80, Type 96 etc), are the numbers their year of introduction?

It would appear that way. Or more accurately, it really seems like the year an upgrade of an existing Soviet Model is being researched for upgrade. For example, China begins upgrading the T-54 into the Type 59 tank in 1959, but the first tanks may not have been introduced until 1960 or 1961.

Here's a good link:

Also you should take a look at Kazoo's Skiff Style Icon Mod since it has an updated Models.csv file...I think Francesco's Mod has a similar file too.

Sounds good, Hoplite. Now then, my last problem is the fact that generically named models are not included on the list. Could somebody link me to a guide showing which number codes refer to which unit?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.
