This reminds me of a feature in some other ww2 game where they played the national anthem of the nation played on start-up (exept for nationalist china where they played the current chinese anthem, also for sssr they had the new anthem from 1944).

nice initiativ.
If it is the same one I have in mind, they also played the "Inno di Mameli", a song that, despite being rather popular also in the first half of last century, became the Italian national Anthem only in 1946, until I wrote them complaining about the gross historical inaccuracy.
Never mind, I have more than 400 songs of WW2 era, most of them from Italy and Germany ( ca 100 from each Country), but also Soviet, Americans,Spanish, British, French and Polish, I would be glad to share them, but I don't know about copyright issues ( I downloaded all of them from websites that offer them for free, so I suppose they have the right to do so and that I have the right to share them, but I cannot offer any guarantee) and I don't know how to upload.
Also, I am not aware if some of them are illegal in Germany or other Countries.

Don´t worry if any german propaganda would be illegal, you have to listen to them in the public to get arrested

7 of the highest quality CHC tracks. :) only 6mb

Xie xie!

Don't worry guys, I'm still alive and interested in this...just waiting on a new computer so I can use software to fix up any tracks that are poorer quality without killing my computer.

Thanks for the FRA and ITA ideas! Now, just need JAP list...if nobody contributes, I'll put together random sentai themes and use that

Well, I have three albums of some traditional Japanese folk melodies - one in flute and harp, two orchestral.

Also, just realized - I have the soundtrack to the game Kessen. Excellent music performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.. not really at all 'gamey', very high quality. Awesome Japanese-esque war music.

Oh, and two more things:

1) Never been involved with the mod community before, so let me know how I'd get those to you, and..

2) I'd like to suggest the addition of three excellent tracks that were from HOI1.

I remember these tracks very clearly, they really made the game for me. The first, by Chabrier, is French, turn of the century; Rodrigo is Spanish, I believe, but you could tack it in anywhere you like; and the same goes for the one by Albinoni, even though he's Italian.

Finally, I've also modded in to the opening menu of my games a piece by Michael Kamen, from Band of Brothers, called "Austria". Really great way to set the tone for the game: instead of the bombastic "Ride of the Valkyries", you get something thoughtful, respectful, soaring:

Anyway. Just some ideas!

I think we could combine all the available music mods for HoI to the ultimate megapack for AoD. There was a guy named Kaloyan who uploaded some German and Soviet music, then there was CromCruachan who expanded the pack to the size of more than 500 Mb. Some music is also included in World in Flames mod and 1914 mod. Many of these songs could be sorted out and included.

We need to contact all people who released some music on the forum and ask them to participate by allowing their music to be used.

I would melt in paradise if we could get over 1Gb of amazing tracks in the end, categorized by countries in folders so that everyone could play his own selected playlist or the whole pack at once!

Thanks dude, every bit helps! Try zipping them all and putting them on a file upload site, then putting the link up here; it's what Haru did.

Guys: I'm not sure when I'll get my computer, I'm thinking around March-ish. So...music pack out along with AoD 1.1, 1.2 at the latest?

If you are including classical:
Don't forget Barber's Adago for Strings - for the Brits or Americans.
It would be great to find a contemporary BBC recording.

Maybe slip-sliding a "Mack the Knife"/3 Penny Opera recording into the Czech play list as a taunt toward the Teutonic Prudes across their border.

Great to see everyone's still interested!

Yes, I WILL have this mod out, whenever I get my new computer (March-April). I am currently putting together lists of quality tracks, so no, this mod is NOT dead. Expect a playlist for all the majors come AoD 1.1, or 1.2 at the latest. Beyond that, I'm hoping to expand the number of major tracks, as well as add tracks for minors. However, my intent is to have alliance members w/o their own playlists use the alliance leader's playlist (devs, that's possible, right?), and puppets use their master's playlist (don't think that will be an often used feature, but hey...).

I would add Elämää Juoksuhaudoissa and Maamme. I can't give links right now, though.
