Well i hope that we can have more than one! I think being able to acquire more units is a very good idea and stems from other RTS games such as Age of Empires and Empire Earth where building or rather acquiring units is essential. I can understand the awesome power that just one of the units might have in this game and thus, perhaps a different max unit cap within each class type might a good idea to limit the power arsenal.
We'll try to make our scenarios conform with reality. However, in pvp, balance is much more important. So we'll see. In mods and some for-fun skirmishes, you can obviously have what you want
Excellent!! In the skirmishes - will oil be the potential resource to gather/mine to develop some kind of economy for unit purchasing? Or will you perhaps acquire credits for certain kills and obtain an economy that way?
We're definitely not having any mining or harvesting. "Credits" will be obtained either through accomplishments in the mission, at a steady rate, or maybe based on the ability to bring supply convoys through. The latter, while the most realistic option, may be too slow to work in real life, though. We're working on it!
Yes, then the Enterprise would arrive in orbit and blast our enemies with phasers and Quantum torpedoes. I really, really, really think overloading reactors would be a big "NOOOOO".
